Staying at Polynesian Resort for the first time this April. Never been there except to go to dinner at O'hanas. Walked from Monorail to O'Hanas lounge and back.

Is there a counter service place to get breakfast foods and coffee in the morning?

What about a poolside bar open late?

Any info about staying at Poly would be appreciated.

Thanks

Welcome to the DIS! We love the Poly, one of our favorite resorts!! As the previous poster stated, check out the Poly thread, lots of good info there.

My advice is to enjoy the resort, especially at night. It's gorgeous!

There is a good quick service eatery, Captain Cooks. It's also really easy to take the Monorail around for more dining options.

Hopefully you can watch the Electrical Water Parade and the nighttime show at MK, we watch from the beach or the pool. If you are staying CL the Club Room is super fun place to watch Wishes.

If you like rum drinks, the Lapu Lapu at the Tambu Lounge in the GCH is the best. It is a fruity rum drink that comes in a hollowed out pineapple. A must for our trips!

Trader Sams, go if you can. It's so much fun.

Walk to the TTC, it's not far and you can catch the EPCOT Monorail from there. A beautiful path at night too.

The Poly is a family favorite. The grounds are plush and the vibe is so relaxing. When we stay at the Poly we make our trip Polycentric. Plan dinners at the resort: 'Ohana and Kona, and maybe the Luau. We use the monorail and boats for transportation, and enjoy the beach at night.

I also suggest heading to the Poly thread for any specific questions you have, those folks will welcome you and help you with very specific questions you may have.

The Poly is a personal favorite for my wife and I. We honeymooned there and went back again 2 years later and they were gracious enough to give us the same room we had the first time. And that room was in the Aotearoa longhouse with a perfect view of Cinderella Castle from our balcony. And on top of that, it wasn't even classified as a preferred view room. The walk to the boat dock from our location was great, and it was reasonable back to Capt Cook's too for refilling our mugs. Having the monorail there was a major plus as well. Of course, our 3 stays at the Poly occurred while they still had that wonderful water feature in the lobby - well prior to the current look. I hate the current changes that were done to the lobby, but it wouldn't stop me from staying there again. No doubt, it would become a favorite of yours as well.

The Oasis quiet pool is lovely. Great place to chill, enjoy the pool bar and relax after a busy day in the parks. Get a Dole Whip and watch the torch lighting ceremony.
My kids loved the movie outdoors last summer. The CMs gave them each huge bags of popcorn, it was fun.
It's a lovely resort. Quintessential Disney.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but I have a question about O'hana's. My wife cannot eat any food that has peppers in it, even even it has a lot of black pepper. Would she be able to eat the food at O'hana's or would it probably be too spicy for her?

She would be able to eat some things, I think.
For example: The bread should be fine, the salad would be good and the dessert would be fine. IDK about the 'meats'. Is it an allergy or just a preference? If it isn't an allergy, she can probably get enough food there that she can eat. You could try contacting people at Disney in advance, but that hasn't worked out well in my experience.

Try posting your question on the Restaurants board here. You may get more answers there.

Sorry, I can't be more help.

I don't recall anything Over spicy but if pepper is an issue, perhaps call n ask ahead to be sure she could enjoy/eat.
Good luck. Good food n fun place!
