We have reservations for 7 nights at the Polynesian! :yay: :yay: We are so excited! :yay: :yay: We have been dreaming of going there for many years and this is finally the year to go! :yay: :yay: My husband and I are celebrating our anniversary while we are there, and this year our oldest daughter is turning 21, our youngest daughter is turning 18, and I (boo-hoo) am turning 50!

For those of you who have stayed at the resort, I would like to find out what you think would make the experience memorable. (Such as, I have heard that you can see the Magic Kingdom fireworks from a beach at the Polynesian. Where is this beach located and is there a "perfect" location to view the fireworks on the beach? Is it crowded on the beach so you have to get there early?) Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

I think you will really enjoy staying here, we have for the past 7 straight years. ;) We just love the smell and feel of this place.

The beach is located straight out from where the GCH is and its stretches across most of the resort. They have lovely walkways with torches at night through the resort and down to the beach area. The entire beach area is great for viewing Wishes because the Polynesian is directly across from the MK. The hammocks get snagged up early, but bring a beach towel to sit on at the beach.

The volcano pool is also a fun place to view the fireworks from the view is awesome, but it can be crowded sometimes. Go for a swim later at night and snag a lounge chair to watch.

The Tahiti buildings rooms are closer the TTC walkway, have double sinks and a little larger room than some of the other longhouses. I am 26 and those 2 sinks make it easier for my parents and I to get ready in the morning! Just something to keep in mind. If you have any other questions, I can probably help you do not be afraid to ask. :)

Thanks for your information. Will the front desk tell us about the extras (like the electric water parade, viewing the MK fireworks, etc.) when we check in?

They won't tell you about the water parade or the fireworks unless you ask. If you still have questions after check-in, just press "front desk" from your room's phone.

Hi-Ho Mickey Mom,

First of all, I will be 53! in October and my youngest DD is 11, another DD is 22, and a DS @ 28. We are huge Poly fans and I know you are going to love to Poly as much as we do. We like the Samoa longhouse/volcano pool side. It is very close to the GCH, both pools, and the launch to MK. Some of the things we love are the tiki torch lit path at night, the Hawaiian music everywhere you go (even underwater at the volcano pool), watching the castle change colors from the pool, watching the fireworks and the Electrical light pageant from the pool (or beach), the best Mai Tai's on the planet, Kona Cafe, 'Ohana after dark (very romantic),the boat ride to/from MK, and the landscaping. I can't describe the atmosphere or the smell of the GCH, but once you arrive, you will understand. The cool thing about being on the monorail is your just seconds from the Grand Floridian, MK, and the Contempory. So many options - so little time...

The Polynesian is the BEST resort on Disney property, in my opinion! You've gotten a lot of great information here already, but I'd also like to cordially invite you to the Polynesian Resort FAQ thread, right here on the DIS Boards: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1708173 :sunny:

P.S. There is information about the Electrical Water Pageant in the "Island Palm Press" which is the newsletter and directory of services that you will receive when you check in to the Polynesian resort :)

No matter what longhouse you're in, there's a beach close by to enjoy the Electical Water Pageant and Wishes. There are actually 3 beaches and most people just congregate at the one near the Volcano pool.

The dock where you catch the water launches is another spot to watch.

Speaking of the launches, they are a great way to get to or from the MK. They also stop at the GF so make a fun way to travel there for a meal. There's also a walkway between the resorts which we love.

Interesting thread...I'll have to look up the other thread as well. We may be staying there for just one night in November if we can't get a day added on to our AKV stay. :goodvibes

One beach that's great for fireworks watching and not many folks know about is the one right next to the Tuvalu longhouse. ;) It's the quietest of the three Poly beaches and has hammocks there for relaxing as well. If I hadn't stayed in Tuvalu I wouldn't have known it was there.

The Poly is absolutely wonderful! And yes, the GCH has a smell to it you won't soon forget. :thumbsup2
