Polynesian: Smokin' in the bathroom

We are currently at the Polynesian (Yay!) and yesterday morning, last night, and this morning our bathroom has smelled like cigarette smoke. We told guest services yesterday morning of the morning incident and called last night of last night's incident and still it smells like cigarette smoke.

Somebody, somewhere, doesn't like the new smoking policy and are smoking in their bathroom. Anybody else experience this at the Polynesian?

I would speak to a manager (and make note of their name) about it so that you have it noted that you complained about the smoke smell so you aren't charged a cleaning fee for someone elses ignorance.

I might even ask them to change my room if I were there long enough.

I'll just send down my junior high assistant principal. He caught me and a couple of my buddies smoking in the bathroom, 8th grade I think it was. He paddled each one of us right there - none of us could sit comfortably for the rest of the day! I have to say, that did it for me and cigarettes. The sight of one brings back images of that big paddle with the holes drilled into it!

Where was Child Services when I was in school?

That would drive me absolutely nuts. I would put a sticky on your neighbor's door and "if you are smoking, could you please stop in the bathroom, it is coming thru to our bathroom". And leave it at that. If it doesn't stop, give the front desk a call.

Are the parks busy today? My friend and her family are coming down tomorrow and she has only been 3 years ago over Xmas so I am hoping the crowds have cleared out. Sorry I highjacked your post. I hate smoking and we opened up the first smoke free sports bar and restaurant in NC 3years ago. It is doing great! I would tell the fromt desk againg and put a note on the neighbor's door.

Had this problem at Pop during our last stay. Luckily, the neighbors checked out the day after we checked in.

I would not leave a note on your neighbors door. The ventilation system connects many rooms and smoke could be coming through from down the hall of a floor above. Let the management know and let them handle it. There is no reaon to try to police it yourself or approach another guest when you can't tell if they are indeed th esmokers. You just risk irritating or antagonizing someone else.
Sadly, this happens more now. It was so much better when they had rooms/buildings for smokers so all could be accomodated.

Has happened to me at WDW, and DH who travels all the time said it happens everywhere. Many bathroom vent systems are connected. He said the best way to handle besides complaining (the housekeeping can tell when they walk in which room it is) is turn on bathroom fan, close door and place rolled up towel at bottom. Too bad folks are so disrespectful.

He said the best way to handle besides complaining (the housekeeping can tell when they walk in which room it is) is turn on bathroom fan, close door and place rolled up towel at bottom. Too bad folks are so disrespectful.

Unfortunately the fan in the bathroom is on a sensor and you can't turn it on and leave it on. We did talk to a manager and said that if nothing else, if the fan could be hardwired "on" then that would be satisfactory. It clears out in several minutes when the fan comes on. But the damage is done by then (stinky towels).
