Polynesian, Should we make a room request?

First let me say that I do know that a room request is just a request and not a guarantee. :)

I would like opinions/input from the folks that know the Polynesian well if should we bother making a room request.
Here are the details. We have a split stay and will be doing 5nights at All Star and 5days/4nights at the poly (garden view). We will be using our car when staying at the value so that is no problem. We will be hitting all of the parks during the 1st part of the stay.

We will probably only be going to MK and Epcot during the Poly stay. We booked reservations etc. all those 2 parks during the Poly part of the stay so we can just take the monorail and no car/buses.

So my question would be is it worth trying to make a request to be close to the TTC or Main Bldg for Monorail access or is the walk really not bad from any building.
We have stayed at the CR and almost always walk to the MK instead of taking the Monorail from both the Tower and the Garden Wing.
We were in the furthest bldg away from the tower in the garden wing and did not mind the walk.
Anyone have an opinion on the walk from say the furthest bldg from the TTC or the Main Bldg compared to the walk from CD Garden Wing to tower or MK.

I have only ever been in the main area of the Polynesian so I really dont know how large it is to tell if I should worry about being close to transportation.

Excited about staying at the Polynesian! 15 Days!
Thanks everyone for any input given!

I'd suggest being closer to the TTC. From there you can catch the monorail to Epcot, or catch either the boat or monorail to the MK.

The longest walk to the main building is 3-5 minutes and to walk from one side to the other is 7 minutes. Measured these many times with a GPS. The Poly is actually small and you could out several in the space of CBR or POR.

For central building I prefer Tokelau building. It's one of the 4 newer ones meaning larger rooms and balconies on all floors. Most Poly Buildings do not have 2nd floor balconies. It's 3 minutes to GHC or TTC or volcano pool. I'd suggest requesting it.

We stayed in Tahiti last trip to be closer to the TTC. Very short walk to the TTC and not bad to the main building. We were on the 2d floor and had a room with a balcony.

I would also recommend Tokelau. It's a nice distance between TTC and GCH, so you can catch transportation either way. It has some of the biggest rooms on the Disney property too. We requested Tokelau, 3rd floor facing the quiet pool and got exactly that. We even had a sideways view of the castle for the GV price.

We stayed in Samoa and loved the location. Everything was very convenient being just steps away from the GCH, the volcano pool/beach, and Captain Cooks. We never did walk to the TTC, but I don't think it would be bad walking from Samoa ;).

We stayed in Tahiti on our last trip and it was great. You will hear the boat horn from time to time because the boat dock is near, but it is a very short walk to the TTC. Sometimes the Poly monorail station, just like the GF and CR stations can get backed up and crowded. That being said the walk from anywhere within Poly to either the TTC or GCH is not that bad...unless it is raining. The paths between buildings are nicely landscaped and it is a very pleasant walk.

The walk from Luau Cove to the TTC is about 10 minutes at a leisurely pace, and Luau Cove is the furthest point at the Poly from the TTC. Most guest rooms are significantly closer to the TTC. To me, it felt like the walk from Luau Cove to the TTC was shorter than the walk from the CR Tower to the MK (and garden wing is further). This could be due to the more picturesque foliage and sights along the pathways at the Poly.

Our personal favorite location is Samoa, but as you can see from all the the responses you have gotten to your question, this is a matter of personal opinion.

I suggest calling CRO to request a patio or balcony (or whichever you prefer), as not all rooms have one. It's hard to get a bad location at the Poly. Enjoy!

Another vote for Tokelau here. We stayed there this past August and requested Tokelau after much consideration and research. We loved its central location to everything and on rainy days, cutting through a couple of longhouses puts you steps from the GCH.

We requested 1st floor so that we could sit out on the patio while the kids were going to sleep at night so we could talk without keeping them awake. That way too, one of us could go and bring back an adult beverage (can you say lapu lapu ;) ) and just join the other on the patio without having to go through the room and disturb the kids. It worked out great.

Tokelau is right off the quiet pool too, so if Luau Cove was too crazy, the kids often chose to hang out there.

The rooms were large and like new - nothing dated or shabby about them at all.

We've already made the same request for this summer's Poly trip as well!
