Hi,

I have heard that the Polynesian is now redoing the cosmetics of their rooms. Things like bedspreads and colors. Is this true? If so, are there any rooms that are finished yet or any idea of what the new look will be? I love the Polynesian and am very excited to find out what is going on now.

Thanks

There are two test rooms done but I don’t know if they are open to the public to stay in yet. No others have been done yet. Work will start in Tahiti at the end of this month.

The standard rooms will be getting the following changes. All the soft goods, bedspreads, carpet, drapes, etc will be replaced and the rooms are going to get a whole new look and furniture. Some of the changes in the rooms will be the canopy above the bed will be removed, the armoire will be replaced with something different (longer low dresser), the TV will be replaced with a new flat screen 27" TV, new mattresses and there will be a desk area in the room along with the table and 2 chairs and a few other items that I am told have not been decided on yet. The colors of the room are going to be changed also. All the light fixtures in the rooms and halls will be different and some textures are being tried out on the walls. There is also going to be a new sliding glass door. They are installing the new door in one of the rooms at the resort now since the door needs replacing anyway. The new door is a 3 piece glass that only the center piece opens. It is suppose to be lighter and easier to open and close. I did see some of the new changes but I was asked not to take photos of the new carpets or colors being tested. There is a new patio being put in on the ground level rooms (photo on my web pages) and you can see the new drapes in the background. There is a rumor that the concierge rooms will be even different than the standard rooms or may have more features but for now that information is only a rumor.

Thank you both for responding.

Tikiman, I am curious about one thing. You mentioned that there will be a knew desk area. Will there still be a day bed in the rooms. With the table and chairs still in the room I am just wondering if there will be room. Thanks for the info.

I am told the final design will have a desk area, the table and chairs and the daybed will be folded up like a futon to allow more room when no one is sleeping on it. We will have to wait and see how it ends up when they open the first room to see how it looks.

Do you think that any of these rooms (in Tahiti) will be done in mid June? If so do you think that the CMs at the POLY would tell us which ones? :confused3 We will be there then and would like to try and stay in one. :smooth:

If they close the building they are not expected to open back up until August.

Tikiman, Hi Do they have plans for the Hawaii Longhouse? If I have this correct it is the concierge longhouse. Have they already done the re-model? Or is that in the plan? We hope to stay there this fall and would choose another resort if they are going to be in the middle of remodeling.

Thank you Tikiman for all you do for all of us.

I can't tell you what I have heard about Hawaii at this time but I can say that there is little chance you would be affected in the Fall.

Aloha

Steve
