Not sure if I've ever seen these two compared (of course watch it be 3 posts below or something like that since I decide to ask). Anyways I know you can't really compare deluxe to moderates, etc...(even though we do it all the time on these boards) but has anyone stayed at both these two resorts and how does CSR hold up to the Poly? (Other than the obvious Poly right on the monorail).

Thank you in advance! :)

I can compare those two - We stayed Poly Concierge for 8 nights then switched to CSR for 4 nights. I was worried about "downgrading" resorts & that I might be disappointed ......

NOT! We LOVED CSR - It is a fantastic resort. The only things we liked better about the Poly were the concierge lounge & the monorail transportation. Other than that, we actually Preferred CSR to the Poly. Shocking, I know.

Things that sold us on CSR - Service, Cleanliness, Dig Site, Pepper Market, Theme, Bus Service.

When I compared what I had spent on Poly Conc., I was dismayed to discover that I could have stayed 21 nights at CSR instead & would have been just as happy.

CSR is the only moderate I've ever tried, but talking to friends who have tried more, we have come to the conclusion that CSR is like Deluxe Lite. I would definately stay there again in the future & highly recommend it. My brother & his wife honeymooned there & they fell in love with it too.

While I don't dislike the CSR, in my opinion it is not even remotely close to the quality of the Poly. The CSR is a moderate resort, period. It has pretty much the same qualities of all the other moderates. I am not being critical of the CSR--it is a beautiful resort, but no way equal to the Poly.

I think the Poly is Disney's theming at its finest. It is a first class resort experience. It is a monorail resort, with many transportation options. It offers several good restaurants, and is a short monorail ride to a half dozen others. Comparing it to any of the moderates, including CSR, is like comparing apples to oranges--it is two different experiences.

I don't know how you can compare the two. The csr costs less. EVerything else is in the Polys favor. Everything. So when you compare mods and deluxes, you are really deciding if the cost of a deluxe is worth it. Every deluxe has better transportation, pools, restaurants, etc. To truely compare you would have to say that if money were no object where would you stay, very, very few would ever pick a mod over a deluxe.

True, you can't compare deluxe to mod. I think Leota was saying that for what she paid for Poly conc, she would have been just as happy at CSR for alot less.

I personally don't get wrapped up in the theme because I don't spend alot of time hanging around the resort other than the pool.

CSR does have great transportation. Other than your trip to MK, CSR has far better transportation. It is not shared, Poly shares with GF and Cont. CSR is very close to AK, BB, MGM and Epcot, very centrally located. No transfer involved at the TTC.

Although I agree the POLY is expensive it is worth every penny to us.
we have stayed at both
CSR has good food
I do not find the pepper market to be a whole cheper then Kona Cafe
it is maybe a few dollars less
and Ohana well I can not compare although Maya grill is amazing
I think CSR has Dinning close to a deluxe --and at close prices-- which you would not excpect from a moderate.
But the theming and service can not be compared the grounds of the POLY are Just amazing and very relaxing .
If you are looking for the most bang for your buck then the POLY is not worth the price as you are paying for the grounds and the extended service and services available at the POLY.
I personally would not recomend CSR I would choose POR as a moderate.
But i will tell you we now own DVC and truly miss the POLY :earsboy:
But we will rent sometime and stay there again

Buzz, while I greatly admire your dedication to CSR, I gotta disagree on this one. The Poly, with its own monorail station, offers all the monorail resorts and restaurants, as well as Epcot, in minutes. It also has boat service connecting to various locations. The CSR transportation is very good, but no where near the options of the Poly.

So, again, if money were no object, who would choose csr over the poly? I am not saying that you can not be happy at a mod or a value. But again, they do not compare.

This is such a great thread. After I read the subject, I thought that I wrote about it and forgot. I'm planning a trip for 2008, which I will have plenty of time to save for. I too am debating on Poly or CSR, but I'm staying for a 2 week period. Right now I'm budgeting for CSR unless I come into money between now and then to upgrade. I'm going to Real Estate School next year so maybe I can take my very first commission and set aside for the upgrade. We're use to living off one income so my income will feel like bonus money to us...

we'll be staying at both resorts this summer for the first time. 6 nights at CSR and 4 nights at the Poly. Sounds to me like all of my worrying and debating with myself about which 2 resorts to stay at will pay off in the end. Thanx for all of the great pros and cons. Mimimom :wave2:

Please be sure to post back your findings over the summer. I'd be real curious to know how you felt between the two.

I guess we'll just have to plan to stay at both at some future point (separate trips, I don't want to confuse the issue ;) ). Thanks again for the opinions everyone!

Even tho money isn't a huge object - I would still pick CSR over Poly. I really preferred my experience there to the Poly, except for the concierge lounge. If I paid rack rate for a regular, non-concierge room at the Poly, I would have been extremely disappointed.

Every resort at WDW has their loyal followers. Poly and CSR are no different in this debate but for our family, CSR meets our every need and we just love it there. Any time we try a new resort, we always say how it's just not CSR.

Ill be sure to post and let you know my findings. I just made another PS for our trip! It really is becoming a reality! Mimimom
