Polynesian Resort building requests

We've visited Disney World many times before, but have always stayed at the Contemporary. This year, in July, we will be staying at the Polynesian, but don't know which building to request. Both of my daughters would like to stay somewhere with a good view of the Animal Kingdom (which I understand is a possibility). If the view is minimal, then the next choices would be closer to the Volcano pool and/or the main building for access to the monorail. My only concern about being close to the pool is whether or not it would be too loud late at night or early in the morning. I'd appreciate any input from those of you who are familiar with the Polynesian Resort. :earsgirl:

I don't believe that you can see AK from the Poly. I have stayed there about 4 times now and will be leaving for three nights before a Disney cruise this coming Thursday. The closest building to the Volcano pool would be Samoa, the one closest to the main building would be Raratonga. Here is a WONDERFUL site by Steve/Tikiman that will help you a lot. Check out the page for maps.. and click on the little guy then to get a different one. Steve even has pictures of what views you get with each longhouse... enjoy!

We requested the Tokelau building in april and loved it because we were on the end and could see GF and the beach w/out paying for MK view

We just returned from a 3rd floor room at Samoa and it was perfect. I don't know if it's possible to get a MK view without springing for lagoon view or not. But, we had a great view of the volcano pool, boat dock and Grand Floridian from our balcony. We were in 3106 I believe. I'd post pics, but can't figure out how to do it! :badpc:

Samoa is right between the two pools and is an easy walk to the Great Ceremonial House. I also did the walk from the TTC to Samoa, and was surprised at how short it is. Honestly, we walked everywhere easily with a 5 year old.

Hi Marlene, Welcome to DIS.

Animal Kingdom is not close to the Poly so you would not be able to see it from there.

I would recommend looking at a map of the resort and deciding which building would best serve your needs.

Good luck!! :goodvibes

You will probably get a better response if you post this on the Resorts board. This site has several different categories of boards on it for specific categories of information.

Welcome to DIS!!! I see it's your first post! :)

We stayed in Tokelau our last trip and it was very quiet...it was very close to the smaller pool and you just had to walk past one longhouse to the Volcano pool...I think it would be a little noisy being near the Volcano pool but we never heard a sound in Tokelau...we had a first floor room so our view was mostly bushes and at that time construction fences. The walk to the monorail is very nice and any longhouse would be fine as far as distance to monorail. To me, I enjoyed walking a big more to my longhouse...it really put you in that Hawaiian them having to stroll through the winding paths with all the beautiful birds of paradise and all that good stuff! :)

Have a wonderful trip! :)

I have read other posts where people were bothered by noise on the volcano pool side of Samoa. But that wasn't the case for us. It's not sitting directly next to the pool, but is separated by a small band of vegetation and a walkway. We were on the 3rd floor, so maybe a 1st or 2nd floor room is louder? The only noise we noticed in our room was that of the fireworks at 10:00. They were pretty loud in the room. Not loud enough to wake a sleeping youngster, but loud enough to keep one awake that's trying to get to sleep. They don't last long, though, so it's not a big problem.
