There has been a great deal of discussion on recent reservations with requests at the Polynesian. We have just returned from there and may have some clarification on the problem. We too were told upon arrival that our longhouse request was not able to be met because Tokelau was under renovation during our stay. The problem was that there was not an equivalent set of connecting rooms available and we ended up in Tahiti, a long distance from anything, especially with a 2 and 4 year old. After several contacts and conversations, we were told that every 10 or so days, the Poly looks at their reservations and % of occupancy and if it is low they choose a building to close for a week-even if there are requests for this building. Thus, saving them money on staffing, etc. I guess this makes business sense, but having an equivalent room for a building request is something that should be in place and honesty from the start would have made it a bit more pleasant. It was just a lesson learned, I guess.
