we just returned from a quick stay at the Polynesian. We stayed club level. All cast members were awesome. Food servings were delicious at night. In the morning, food seemed to be the same daily. I will say our family prefers club level at GF and beach club more. I hate that they did not have bottle water offered in CL. For the price, you think it would be offered. I did ask CM if they had some in the back and she said no. As for the smoke out....each day we were at the pool, you smell smoke from the grill. This was at both pools. This is one of our favorite resorts and we have never experienced this before, but it was literally all four days. It seemed to be coming from around the main building. You could see the smoke and smell it. Several people commented on it at the pool. Has anyone else with a recent stay smelled this too? It was really bothersome. Maybe the heat makes it worse?

Ive never smelled anything from the GCH. I wonder if its the new Oasis Pool Grill? Havent stayed at the Poly since it opened.

It seems getting bottled water is hit or miss at Poly CL. I was there in Oct and was told no bottled water, but if I had an empty one the CMs could fill it. With that said, I just read a post from someone that was there in Nov and the lounge had full size Dasani bottles available, so it looks like sometimes it's available and sometimes not :confused3. As far as the smoke, I've never experienced that.

We usually inhabit the Oasis Pool and can always smell the ‘Ohana goodies, but I don’t think we’ve ever noticed actual smoke in the pool area. Perhaps it was a strange wind direction? The smoke always seems to be pluming straight upwards when I look at it.

Spend enough time around Poly mid-day/afternoon when they fire up the Ohana grill and you’ll inevitably see/smell what’s being cooked there at some point during a trip. The exhaust fan is right above that main grill area in Ohana, so it spits out pretty much right next to the Lava Pool (and not all that far from the Oasis Pool).

The strength of smell obviously depends on the wind... it can come/go depending on conditions and what they are cooking.

We just got back from a week at Poly. I find when it’s damp with not much wind (which it was at times this week), the smell tends to “linger around” or “stick” in the air more than if it’s a windy day.

YMMV whether you’ll like or not like the smell. To me, it just smells like a yummy BBQ/smoker cooking something good nearby.
