I have a two year old daughter and we are debating whether or not we want to go to the 5:15 seating of the Luau in May. Have you taken your toddler to the Luau and if so, did they enjoy it? Is it kid friendly?

We went when our DS was a toddler & DD was a pre-teen & they both hated it. My DD thought the show was lame & DS wasn't interested in it. The food was only so-so, the little guy didn't like anything they served. We ended up stopping at the Poly's quick food place & bought him a yogurt & a banana......we should have saved our money!

Can kids pick from a children's menu for things like chicken fingers or mac and cheese at the luau?

The Luau is currently being refurbished/updated and will reopen 2/28, so it is possible that the new dinner/show will be better. Watch for reviews next month and then decide.

Sorry if this spoils your plans, but another vote not to go. The show we saw was lame...and the food so-so. Kids were 7 and 3 at the time and the only reason they mildly enjoyed it was it was our second night at Disney and they were still very excited about just being there!
Hoop-Dee-Doo a much more entertaining show. If you've already done that, save your money and do something else!!

We have been twice--both times to the first show with Mickey & Company. At the time we went, our daughter was a preschooler (2 & 4) and our son in kindergarten & 2nd grade. Both loved the show--in fact, my husband and I (and my sister was along on one occasion) enjoyed the show, too.

The first year our kids tried the food offered and didn't care much for it. They were brought a box dinner that contained a bit of everything, PB&J, mac & cheese, a cookie, and I think chicken fingers. It's been a long time ago, so it's tough to remember exactly what alternative foods were included--I just remember it was a good bit of food for a kid. During our 2nd visit, our kids ate the luau food and our nephew had the kids' box meal. You just need to ask for an alternative for the kids--unless that's been discontinued over the years--I would highly doubt it though.

Now, as to the food--so-so at best.
