we went to the Luao on our honeymoon in '98, havent been back since....... we've been to WDW 10 times since then, so I supose we werent all that impressed!
anyway... we figured it was time to try again, we have been to Hoop de doo twice since then and love it, but thought we'd give the Luao another try.
we are booked to go on November 30th, I am having second thoughts.... should we go?

what do you think????

thanks!

Laura :)

yipppppeeeeeeee! :) 14 days til WDW! :) :) :)

Laura,
I still here that the food is so so. You may try asking what the vegetarian option is. Maybe you will like that better.

Laura,

I was just there in October and loved it. I opted for the later show so it would be dark during the luau - I think that adds to it. I found the food to be very good. I had 4 kids with me - ages 4 to 10 and they enjoyed the show also, though one did fall asleep at the table! LOL!!

I went in July and liked it. The show was really nice and the food was plentiful and decent in quality. Good veggies and rice, chicken, ribs, etc...
FYI, the show is closing for rehab Jan 7 thru Feb 2003.

Thanks, I know it is closing for rehab, I wont be there during that time though.

Jo, have you been lately...

This is the thing.... it seems the show is "Good" and the food is "good" so, nothing seems to be "Great" I just dont know if it is worth an evening!

breana902 - your child wouldnt have fell asleep at hoop de doo! :)

Laura :)

LOL, Laura, we haven't been to the Luau in over 6 years, but we've been to Hoop-Dee-Doo twice this year! LOL (btw, my sister got to be the Can-Can girl at HDD - when she was picked I thought of you!)

Cali! that is too funny! I bet your sister had a lot of fun! I did! :)

It is so true though... Hoop de doo is such fun and the Luao never seems to leave the same impression!

I'm cancelling it.

Thanks everyone!

Laura :)

No, he wouldn't have! LOL!!! But we went to that last year, so wanted to do something different this year.

I'm keeping this thread alive even though the OP canceled her reservations :).

We went to the Poly Luau 3 1/2 years ago when I was pregnant and unable to partake in the Mai-tai's. I drank kool-aid instead and the food was terrible! FWIW, even those who drank the alcoholic drinks said the food was bad :).

We're now staying at the Polynesian for 5 nights and the Mai-tai's and the hunky flame dancer guys are making me want to return. Heck, I'll be able to walk home and have sweet dreams :p.

So, the people who say the food is "Good", can you rate it on a scale from 1-10? 1 being "dog-food" and 10 being "the best meal ever!". FWIW, I would rate our previous meal at about a 2 :(. It was the worst meal I ever ate at WDW.

I would rate the food at about 7 or 8. I thought the food was very good and had seconds. Be careful of dessert though! It was dark and I picked something up off the plate that I thought was a chocolate leaf. It was a real leaf! LOL!!!! Not very tasty! Oh - I am a very picky eater also.

We have been to the Hoop-De-Doo in the past & we were considering doing it again in December. However, once we found out we would be staying at the Polynesian, we decided we should definitely try the Luau.

My MIL & family all attended the Luau in August & they really enjoyed it. I have heard that the dessert is great & the drinks good, too.;)

We went in Feb.....and thoroughly enjoyed it and wouldn't hesitate to go again.
The food was good!! We had seconds.....rating 8. (Best ribs we've had!! None since can compare!)
Show was entertaining too.....great looking people (men and women).......audience patrticipation was great....and our server was a hoot!! Kept us all delightlfully entertained.

Wow! It sounds like people are really enjoying the Luau now! OK, OK, I made a reservation :).
