Polynesian Concierge

My partner and I are finishing up our four day trip to the polynesian concierge. This trip had some problems. First before we checked in we had called to make sure we had a balcony room with lagoon view. I wanted this room type so we could see the fireworks from our balcony. My partner called up and was told we had garden view. He explained in detail that we had booked the lagoon view. She told him that she'd have to check with central reservations and would call him back in thirty minutes. Two hours later the manager of the concierge calls and was never updated by the person he had talked to. My partner had to explain the whole problem again. So the manager says he got us the balcony room garden view. But he would see about moving us to lagoon view if he had availability. That never happend. He was supposed to meet with us at check-in that never happened either. At this point I figured we would just enjoy our time at Disney. The food at the polyneisan concierge is the best. I've tried it at all of he other deluxe restorts and none can beat the poly. My only other gripe is that I had asked the concierge desk person directions on how to get down to port everglades in Ft. Lauderdale and also parking information. I was told they would look that up and let me know before we check-out. I called again to get this information and was told I would have to call my crusie line to get this information. It took me less that five minutes to find this information after booting up my laptop and getting on the web. So overall the food is great but the service isn't good. (The maid service is good)

There is a big price difference between GV and LV at the Poly Concierge. Are you saying that you booked and paid for a LV room and they put you in a GV room? Did they refund you the difference in the price?

I don't want to presume anything about whom you referred to as your "partner". I know Disney has a nice policy about this sort of intimacy. But, perhaps, the concierge staffs may not sound tolelate about this vaque relation as many of us do. Of course, if it's not what I think, then my conclusion would turn out differently.

That has GOT to be the most insulting, rude, and politically incorrect statement I've ever read on the DIS! Shame on you!!!

Sorry about your experience, but if misery loves company, here's my story. Seven years ago I reserved a YC water view concierge room for my family. Yes, my reservation did confirm a water view concierge room, and I did pay the one night deposit. When we checked in we were given a garden view concierge room. I informed them of the error and asked to be switched to what I had paid for. They said that they had overbooked and there was nothing they could do. Well, this was unacceptable to me. I asked to transfer to another hotel, but no rooms were available. We ended up being switched to a non-concierge water view room with concierge privileges at the non-concierge price. I guess it was a pretty good compromise, but I still resent the whole thing. I remember getting on the elevator at the third floor with concierge guests and them whispering that we were using them and their "access key" to steal concierge privileges. Several people indicated that we were lucky having saved alot of money for the concierge service. I would have rathered paid the money I expected to pay for the service and view I expected to receive. When you plan and save for a vacation for a year, your hopes and expectations are high. It is such a let down when things don't go as planned. Tracey

Well the confirmtion stated lagoon view but we were charged for Garden View. I beleave the mixup on Disney's part happened because we had originally made reservations at the Beach Club water view concierge room. We had stayed at the poly concierge before and enjoyed it so that is why we swtiched to Poly. I guess we would have been better off staying at the Beach Club. I'll know better next time.
