Polynesian cats ... Pics added

We saw a kitten (maybe 6 months old) walking around the GF on our trip in July. We were on our way to Narcoosee's and it was in the grass on the right side of the restaurant. It meowed at us. I was very sad for this little guy!

That cat looks like it was recently someone's pet and dropped off. How sad.

Awww those cats are cute.
Do they allow pets at Ft. Wilderness?
Maybe someone brought their cat with them in their motorhome and it got out and got lost.
I would rather think it was accidently lost than abandoned.

Please realize it only takes 2 cats to produce colonies like this very quickly. Cats that are not fixed reproduce like bunnies! I doubt a lot of people are dropping off cats like the posters are implying, but it only takes a few. Disney needs to trap and spay/neuter these cats at the very least. :paw:

Anything Feral is good for me!

(that did give me a chuckle!)

I do agree, cats and dogs need to be spayed and neutered, thank you for making that point! :paw:

Poor cats.. If I lived in FLa I would give them a home :guilty:

You would have a very hard time catching them. There are actually a lot of feral cats around the hotels in Orlando. I see them on a regular basis. I think they survive fairly well do to the amount of little creatures in our area and the mild weather. Their biggest danger is traffic.

Yup, those are the cats I saw in May near the arcade.

Yep, we saw the same cat (the mother cat) when we were there 2 weeks ago. She came up to our table while we were eating outside of Captain Cooks. One of the CM's saw her and shooed her away from the eating area. We didn't ask, but from the CM's actions it seemed like this cat was a resident of the Poly.

We saw several cats when we were there in June. There were also a couple of kittens hanging around. We spotted the cats and kittens usually in the evening around dusk near the quiet pool. We also saw a couple of cats in the early morning, also around the quiet pool. There were two different adult cats and several kittens running around. We are also "cat people", but I didn't try to coax them near us--feral cats are not the most friendly and a cause for concern.

We mentioned the cats to the bartenders at the Barefoot Bar one day. She told us that the cats hang around for the "rats" that live around the resort. She also said that the rats were a particular nuisance around the pool bar area because of the garbage, etc.--I suppose that's why the resort isn't real interested in ridding itself of the cats.

This is the first year I've ever seen a cat around the Polynesian and was a bit surprised when I saw them playing in the bushes around the pools. :confused3

Well, it could stay and guard my patio door at the Poly. Keeps the little lizards away. :goodvibes

She looks like a sweet mama cat, I'll bet she is giving the rats a run for their money!

I wonder how she is getting along with the resident ducks?

This momma kitty looks almost EXACTLY like our kitty, Mow. She's never been a mom, though.

I volunteer at our local no-kill humane society and this kind of stuff just breaks my heart. I've also visited the Orlando shelter, which is not no-kill. Heart-breaking. People really need to spay and neuter and only get pets when they can be responsible for it throughout its entire life.
