Oh dear. We have a reservation for CR in mid-November, but have been advised that FTP rates are not available for CR and were offered Poly instead. I never even considered Poly. I had my heart set on CR and my second choice was probably AKL. What's so great about Poly? What I liked about CR was the walk to MK, arcade and Chef Mickey's. The room is a "garden view." What does that mean? I'm not sure what to do.

You'll find the Polynesian has probably the most devotees of the deluxe resorts. We had an awesome vacation there in December.

You have a prime location - right on the monorail, the option to take the boat across the lake to MK, right next to the TTC for the Epcot monorail.

Plus, relaxing ambience makes you feel like you are welcome. Some people think the buildings are dated, but I think the theming fits the Polynesian name.

The pool is wow! The restaurants are fabulous! The view from the beach is a great memory.

I think if the Polynesian has any hint of an interest for you, you should try it. If you can't picture yourself there for any kind of money, then maybe try AKL.

Garden View will generally have a view of the interior walkways, the pool, or potentially the parking lot.

Lagoon View will look out onto the 7 Seas Lagoon, and could have a view of The Castle or Space Mountain. This view will cost more.

I think you'll like the Polynesian. My family was a big CR fan, until we went to the Poly. We still like CR, but prefer Poly now.

Poly has an aracde, and Ohana has a character breakfast...plus you can still take the monorail to Chef Mickey's.

I hope you have a good time.

We will be at the Poly Nov 7 for our 14th stay there. We've never stayed at the CR but have spent a lot of time there. If you would like a resort where you can really relax after a day in the parks then the Poly is for you.

This is one of the few resorts with NO convention space, it is built for families. The Poly also has the highest rate of return guests, not counting the DVC properties of course.

As Uncle Scar stated you can hop the monorail to the CR for Chef Mickey or the game room. My son and I spent a lot of time at the CR game room over the years.

Check out Tikimans web site for info on the Poly:

Thank you for the encouragement. I am mostly reconciled to staying at Poly, although I am looking into rates at GF, too. My biggest concern now about Poly is dining options. My family might try one exotic meal, but they reall will want traditional American food available most of the time.

Don't worry about that at all. The Poly food is hardly exotic, and is quite delicious; but, barring that, the other resorts on the monorail line are so convenient, it's almost like you share the same restaurants.

Just back from the Poly I have stayed in all the disney hotels and this one by far is my fav. don't look no further make your reservation asap

Another Poly Fan , I just wanted to say that if you are looking for American food Captain Cooks is open until the wee hours and open early in the AM and they have the burgers Pizza' and hot dogs available all the time. I am sure you will be happy with the location of the Poly and the transportaion is the BEST. Have a great trip and don't worry about the Poly. I like much better than the GF because it seems like every time we pass thru the GF monorail area they are packed and the poor souls have to scramble for a space on the train.

Actually they're open 24/7.

You got my vote for POLY! I love the Poly and wouldn't stay at any other deluxe resort. The beach is awesome at night w/ the view of the castle and water parade and the rooms are so roomy and have that whole Polynesian feel/decor. The service is wonderful, can never complain about that. The food at Ohana's is delicious and more then plentiful. The food at Kona's is pretty good and deserts are a must and Capt. Cooks has a little of everything. Kids love the slide at the main pool and the quiet pool is rarely crowded. Room service is wonderful and a must for those lazy mornings. Plenty of children activities and this is all just off the top of my head. So, don't hesitate and try the Poly! If your concerned then maybe you can try it for a few days instead of your whole stay.

Good luck!
