Hi everyone, just wanted to share my trip report. Not too detailed so that it's not too long. Any questions please post them, I'd be happy to answer any.

DAY 1
Arrived @ 8:10PM on Thursday, got car rental, headed for DD to upgrade AP. Then checked into ASMO for a one night stay w/ AP rate. Stayed in Toy Story section on ground level. Ordered Pizza and called it a night.

Day 2
Up early and had breakfast at ASMO food court. Little one wanted to swim but, Fantasia pool was under construction :( Left ASMO and headed straight for POLY. Checked into POLY by 12:30PM. My request for the Samoa building was not noted, lucky I mentioned it during check-in. Made PS for Ohana. Got last ground level room available in Samoa longhouse. Room faced the quiet pool, loved the view and location. Went straight to room unpacked and went straight to main pool. As soon as we got to main pool everyone was being told to exit pool area. So, we got a table and thought we'd wait. However we were told that we must leave pool area including sitting area. Okay, we then walked to beach and everyone there was told to leave as well! They made an annoucement that there was a lightning storm headed our way and for everyone to clear the area. We went back to our room and no sooner then a few minutes, people were swimming in the quiet pool. So much for the lightning storm so, we went to the quiet pool and then little one wanted to try out slide at main pool. Got a table and chairs and relaxed for about a hour or so. Then headed back to room, showered and dressed for dinner a Ohana's. Enjoyed a drink while waiting for table then enjoyed a delicious plentiful meal at Ohana's. After dinner we walked around the grounds and sat on beach before going back to room for the night.

Day 3
Up a little late, headed for Capt. Cooks and had breakfast, then little one join kids activities made a necklace and bracelet. As soon as we stepped out the bus to MGM was right outside. Rode bus to MGM. Had problem w/ AP at gate so, we had to go to guest relations. CM fixed problem, appoligized and gave us a pass that would allow us to head to the front of the line pass to our choice of either the TOT or Rockin roller coaster. We were greatful and got into MGM. Headed to the Great Movie ride, then the Bear show, then ate lunch at the Star Tours food court, then rode Star tours, then saw the Muppets show and then saw the parade, then headed for Rockin roller coaster and went right in and then shopped a little and rode bus back to Poly. Arrived at Poly, ate at Capt. Cooks and went to main pool, saw fireworks and walked over to quiet pool, after an hour of swimming went back to room and called it a night. Fell fast asleep!

Day 4
Up at 8:30AM had room service, awesome! After room service got ready and rode monorail to MK. Made PS at Crystal Palace, got fast pass for Peter Pan. Too hot, went to Country bear show, rode Aladins carpet ride, little one got hair wrapped next to Pirates of the Carribean. Rode Pirates ride after hair wrapped. Walked through Tomorrow land (long lines), rode tea pots, rode Peter Pan w/ fast pass, rode It's a small world ride. Went to Crystal Palace for dinner, had a great time, food was delicious. Walked over to main street and did some shopping. Started to feel rain-drops so headed toward eixt and rode monorail to Poly. Went to arcade and played some games w/ little one and then went to quiet pool then went to main pool and then sat on swings on beach for water parade. After water parade headed back to room and fell fast asleep!

Day 5 Last day
Up at 9:00AM and called front desk to ask for late check-out. CM said we had room til 1:30PM, wonderful! Got packed and went to quiet pool for last time and then back to room, showered and dressed, called for luggage assistance and headed for DD. Shopped for awhile then ate at Rain Forest Cafe, shopped a little more then headed for airport :( returned car and checked-in and headed to terminal and got home around 10:00PM :(

This was a wonderful weekend getaway, weather was beautiful and we had a blast!

If you have any questions please, post them, I'll be happy to answer any questions!

thanks so much for your report, sounds like you really enjoyed Poly. I will be going in Nov. and requested the Somoa building too, did you think it was a good choice after arriving and seeing all the longhouses? Would you request one side over the other of the Somoa longhouse? Did you try dinner at the Kona cafe? How was the transportation? Thanks in advance for all and any information!!

Great report - you packed so much in.

Forgive me for dumb questions about hair wraps... how long does it take to do? does it hurt? (my daughter is wussy) and how long does it last?

Thanx!

Great Trip Report. thanks.

....as far as the hair wraps, the time length depends on hair length. My DD has shoulder length hair and it took @20 minutes at th ASMO. It can last for a couple weeks with extreme care.
One tip: I asked them to use as few hairs as possible and then we just snipped it off when DD got tired of it. With the help of a small barrette, she can just put it back in when she wants-looks good.
(Don't know about your DD, but mine tired of it long before it needed to come out.)
She didn't mention any discomfort while getting it.

Hi again, Lizmc I loved the Samoa longhouse and the location was great! It was so close to the main building, Capt. Cooks and both pools. At first I had wanted to face the main pool but, was very happy with the view I had. I had room 1613 facing the quiet pool on the ground level. Not many people walked by our room and there was a big patch of grass between my patio area and the pathway, which allowed my little one to run around. The main pool is more active then the quiet pool so, I was happy that I didn't face the main pool so that my little one could sleep. Although I don't know if you would hear the noise in those rooms since I never heard any construction noise from mine. I'd definately request the Samoa longhouse during my next stay and I'd prefer the quiet pool side. Note that the second floor has no balcony. I didn't get to eat at the Kona cafe but we did have room service and if the food came from there it was great. I did eat at Ohana and that is a MUST! All you can eat and the food was outrageous! Transportation was a breeze, the bus ride to MGM was quick, it stopped at the Contemporary on the way back to the Poly but, wasn't long nor crowded. The monorail ride to MK was the best although on the way back to the Poly it stopped at the Contemporary and people were packing in. Still can't complain about the short ride to and from the MK. Hope this helps!

>>^..^<<, My daughter had her wrapped next to the Pirates of the Carribean ride and it took about 30 minutes to have it done. Her hair is not too long. It doesn't hurt a bit and she still has it. I asked to not use too much hair so that the weight of the beads at the bottom would pull it down over time. So far it's still on. Hope this helps!

Glad to answer any questions, good luck to all!

My daughter (6 at the time) had her hair wrapped at the Poly last July. It was about 18 inches long and took about 20-30 minutes. She did not report any discomfort. We were told at the time that it could last 2 months or more if we were careful. Well, it lasted almost 1 year, with no special care at all!!! She swam often, she regularly twirled it around her head, and we just washed it along with the rest of her hair. It would have lasted longer, but we decided to cut it off last week as it was starting to get dirty near the bottom and it was getting so much longer than the rest of her hair.
