So, we had planned on heading to the Poly for our trip in January...now DH says that he thinks we should go GF b/c this trip is just the 2 of us. If we go again chances are it will be with family and they won't pay to stay at GF....

I've always loved the way GF looked and am really thrilled he suggested it, but is the cost worth it? Also, are any resorts excluded from codes, discounts, etc?

when I did the math, the $$money diff. from polly to Gf was not that much different

We stayed there once years ago and really enjoyed it. When we went, the difference was considerable when added up (10 people), but we are so glad we did it once! Considering there are only two of you, it shouldn't be so bad. It's a beautiful resort. The rooms are not larger than the Poly, but they look more upscale. Good luck with your decision.

When I checked rates on the phone the other day (I was trying to get our 2008 basic package booked) the CM told me that it was about $150 a night higher at the GF than it was at the Poly...then again, that same CM told me that the GF didn't have dormer rooms when I asked if there was a way to request one when we made our ressie ;)

I've also decided to just go for it and book the GF...now I have to decide if I want to pay for a lagoon view room or just book a garden view and leave it up to the magic to get an upgrade....:goodvibes

I would go with GF!!
We were upgraded from GV to LV...and saw the castle:) (Boca Chica)

Its a wonderful experience not to be passed up!

Personally, I prefered my stay at the GF over my stay at the Polynesian. The cheerful rooms at the GF were much more comfortable in my opinion. I'd go for it!

I actually like the GF more then the Poly, however the kids liked the way the Poly looked, so we're staying there. :)

GF is really great and well worth the marginal$ cost over Poly(another great resort). Definetly do the GF if you have the opportunity.
