We're thinking of staying at the Poly but I'm not sure if we should go for a Lagoon or Theme Park View. Is it worth it getting a theme park view? Is it too far away to get a good look at the fireworks?

Thanks :goodvibes

Personally I don't think the Polynesian has a true Theme Park View. Yes you will get to see Cinderella's Castle or Space Mountain from your room, however that's it. In my opinion a Theme Park View should be of the whole Magic Kingdom like they have at the Contemporary, not just one or two specifc parts of it.

Theme Park view means you can see the castle, lagoon view means that your view will be at least somewhat obscured, often by the palms in front of the buildings.

Is it worth it? Well, probably but not essential. If you do get a lagoon view room that is heavily blocked out by a palm then likely you will have wished you had moved up a category. If you can afford it, yes, probably worth it.

The Poly has magnificent views of the fireworks and there is nothing better than sitting on your balcony watching them. With Theme Park view you see the light tracking Tink.

We loved our theme park view from the Tahiti building in the Poly. We watched the castle turning colors every night (in November) and we saw the fireworks during the afternoon castle shows and at night. The castle looks small from the Poly but you can see it clearly and the fireworks as well.

It was well worth the money to me and I really missed it when we went back in Dec and reserved a garden view.

We booked a Garden view last July to save money. I was not disappointed. When we wanted to watch the fireworks, we watched from the beach, the pool and the GCH. All three options were great and worth the money saved.

Someone who knows the Poly better an anyone and has a website dedicated to the resort, told me he would never book a TPV b/c so many Lagoon views are just as good.:thumbsup2

I'd book lagoon and request a 2nd floor room in Tahiti - 2nd floor room do have a balcony in Tahiti. I've seen some pretty incredible pics from those rooms. :goodvibes

We had a CL TPV in October, and this was our view (it'll give you an idea of how far away the MK/castle really is)

We also watched the fireworks from our balcony on a couple evenings

Just for your reference, here is the layout of the Poly with the buidlings labelled. The Hawaii building is club level.

I think I'd rather spend the money on conceirege level w/ garden view. You can always hang in the lounge and see the MK views. I believe you can see the wster parade & fireworks from there, plus you get the benefit of food & drinks throughout the day.:earsboy:

Thanks for the pictures, those are great! I was thinking of the Theme park view since we have young kids. This way we can still see the fireworks after they've gone to sleep.

The photos posted are from the Concierge bldg TPV rooms - most TPV rooms are not that good - and remember, the park is on the other side of an island, not as close as it looks in the pics.:thumbsup2

Tuvalu has some great TPV from the 3rd floor. :)

The fireworks can be seen from any good lagoon view room just as well!If booking lagoon, just be sure to request a longhouse with good views. As I wrote, many of the Tahiti lagoon view rooms also have a decent TPV at a lagoon price.:thumbsup2

Have a great trip!

Thanks for sharing! Thats what we have booked and Im so excited! What side of the Hawaii building were you on (more to the left or right?) your room looks perfect - hope theyre all that great!

We had theme park view at the Tahiti Building, ground floor. It was nice to sit outside our patio and see the castle changing colors. And a couple nights watched the fireworks -- but we walked straight ahead to the beach to do that. But..............

The Polynesian is not a big resort, not too spread out. I'd spend the money on something else. From most buildings, you can easily take a short walk and sit on the beach and watch the fireworks/castle. You can watch it from the Volcano swimming pool too! Much better than looking out from your balcony or patio.

Next time I stay at the Polynesian, I already decided on the Samoa or Niue building if possible. Close to everything -- the pool, the main building, and the beach where it's a great spot to watch the castle or fireworks.

Hi
We have done the Poly twice. The first time we did MK view and it was nice but no nicer than being on the beach. The two things we wouldn't do again were MK view and Dlx food plan. The regular food plan is enough. We are big eaters but couldn't eat all the food in the deluxe plan. The 2nd trip we stayed at tokelau garden view and enjoyed just as much. I certainly like 3rd floor with balconies. We are going back in Jan 2012 and hope to get tokelau again. Very central to everything.

We have stayed at the Poly with and without a view and if the room with a view is a nice big fat discount I would grab that (but I really need a patio or balcony room) because we like to take breaks in the day and sitting outside gazing at the castle is pure :goodvibes to me

At night it is great! Get a drink from the Tambu Lounge and watch the firewords or the Electrical Parade

This is all great advice, but I think I need to ask a different question about views. After doing research and seeing how hot it still is in Sept. we are now moving our vacation to the end of Jan. Does MK do fireworks every night that time of year?
Since kids will be asleep most nights before fireworks I'd like to watch them from our room. What category room would I need to book? What are the odds of getting a room with that view (as in, are there a lot of rooms with that view?)

Thanks :goodvibes

The other thing is that you can see Cinderella's castle, but it looks really really tiny.

I think the best MK view is from the Contemporary Resort too. It's an awesome view because you can see so much of MK.

wave: Yes, the MK has fireworks every night all year - in slower season it will be earlier though.

I would book a lagoon view and request fireworks view & balcony. Or Tahiti and fireworks view. :thumbsup2 Then when you get there, find out which bldg you are in - best fireworks view will be Tahiti & Hawaii, but Hawaii is concierge and no second floor balconies. Only Tahiti has good lagoon views, fireworks and third floor balconies.

January can be quite cool and raw and be careful of Marathon weekend. Days will likely be sunny and nice (not warm as in 70's or 80's, but high 60's and maybe low 70's has been the norm for us), but early mornings and evenings can be very cold - coat, gloves and hat cold. One January the wind chill was freezing and we came from Boston so used to the cold.

September heat is brutal - we found it worse than July or August. We've been every month but June.:thumbsup2

Happy planning!!!:goodvibes:goodvibes

So am I correct in thinking that I will have to book at least a lagoon view to see the fireworks?
