I forgot on which thread I had previously mentioned that I’d be doing a split stay between the Poly Tower duo and the RIV tower studio… So here is the comparison of the two units.
Three night in a duo premium view (5th floor). First impression was that the room was very spacious. Didn’t feel claustrophobic at all. Closet, shower and cabinet doors were smoother (not “sticky”) like those at VDH when it first opened. As seen on the photos below, I could easily fit my med size checked bag and owner’s locker between the dresser and Murphy bed. The owner’s locker was stored between the sofa/murphy bed and kitchenette counter.

The bad was that in the second photo circled in red, was the doorstop for the studio door. It protruded from the floor. While I understood the functionality, I had also stubbed/kicked it several times while shuffling from using the sink to reaching for products on the counter. I wasn’t hurt (I was in my crocs or oofos slippers), just felt it could be a trip hazard. I haven’t emailed MS yet but did detail this issue in the resort survey. Oh the beverage cooler stopped working the next day. They fixed (or replaced?) it while I was out.
While overall it was quiet, each night at 9pm I could hear the electric water pageant even with the sliding glass door closed.
Now onto the Riviera tower studio for the next three nights. Third floor, facing Skyliner. Loved that the bathroom was very spacious. The room itself, with the Murphy bed down, the space between the TV wall and bed was narrower, as seen below. Not wide enough to fit my checked bag and owner’s locker side by side.

I believe the Murphy beds in both the Poly Tower duo and RIV tower studio are structurally the same. However, the RIV tower studio’s mattress is significantly thicker! It is a regular pillow top queen sized mattress (feels lie Aulani’s). The one in the Poly Tower duo is not as thick (exactly like the duo’s at VDH). Maybe the height of the bed frame and thickness of the sofa cushions can be used as a visual comparison to the height/depth of the mattresses in the photos. While the Poly Tower bed was comfortable, the RIV bed was felt luxurious by comparison.
Yesterday morning I could hear kids laughing and adult yelling for them to wait, coming from the outside (parking lot/skyliner).
Overall, I enjoyed both units, but probably will not book this size again. The duo was picked just to try it out and to compare as I already had the tower unit booked.
Edited to add the owner’s locker in the first photo was positioned with the wider side shown.
