SSR is my home resort and we’re booked there for April 12-17 2025 (the week leading up to Easter).

We want to switch to Poly at the 7 month mark to be with the rest of our family (that is their home resort) if possible which we know it might not be possible.

Do y’all think with the new tower opening this December, the chances of the studios for DVC will be greater to move - or should I just get the thought out of my mind lol

I agree - there's always a chance! And you can waitlist if you don't get it at 7 months - what do you have to lose?

There's a good chance you can get that week (leading up to Easter). I booked it easily after the 7 month window this year. Then I let it go and decided to book the grand floridian villas.

I also think your odds are pretty good. Easter isn’t as popular of a week for DVC as you’d expect it to be given how crowded the parks are. No guarantees though.

In the past, Poly1 has often been available at 7-months out for the week before Easter. What impact the new Poly2 will have on that is an unknown and one just has to wait and see what developes. For example, all DVD has to do to accomplish a substantial increase in demand for Poly1 studios is have Poly2 studios cost more points per night than the Poly1 studios. Likely result: most Poly1 members will not want reserve a studio at Poly2 for a trip and will stick with Poly1, while Poly2 owners, who want studios, will all be trying to book studios at Poly1 during the 11 -month window.

We tried to book Poly at 7 months for a deluxe studio for mid-late January. No luck. I'm sure I'll keep looking but pretty slim pickings.

I wonder when the new tower will show up on the DVC availability? I was hoping some would switch over.

They haven’t even declared any units for the project.

Once that happens, we might have an idea of when they will open for sale and bookings.

I'm thinking they are waiting to open sales until sometime in 2025 and that only 2025 points will be available - no 2024 use year points. JMHO. YMMV.

Disney will have to declare inventory in anticipation for the sales they expect. While a resort is selling, it's always true that more rooms are available than points sold. But people can buy, get previous year points, borrow next year points and use all to book. However, on average new resorts have better availability when they've just opened.
All being equal.
In the case of the Poly, if they do something very greedy like make the new studios cost more than the longhouses, then availability of standard studios may decrease.
If I have to bet, I think you'll have a good chance.
