Trying to figure out if we can squeeze 'ohana breakfast in on our last morning. How long will it take to drive ourselves from the Poly to MCO?

So I'll plan for an hour. Thanks!

I'd plan more than that... traffic thru Orlando can be a real pain... worse case missing your plane... Thru security can take a bunch if time, more so than you realize....plan accordingly but for us, an hour ain't enough leeway..

I just wondered about the actual driving time... I'm already leaving a full two hrs from arrival at airport to flight time.

We've only ever used DME, so this is all new for me.

I guess it depends on which way you go? We always take 536 to 417 to the airport. I don't think it's ever taken more than 30 min and we've never hit any traffic.

I agree, we always take 417, never hit any traffic. Actual driving time about 30-40 minutes.

World Drive to Epcot Center Drive(#536) which turns into (#417) North.........get off at Exit 17......make a left on Boggy Creek Road North(#527A), you will see signs for the airport just ahead for a left exit once you run onto Boggy Creek Road North............You will be coming in from the south side of the airport

25 miles, 30 minute drive

Enjoy your breakfast :)

That's perfect PSULion. We use a rental car and our personal guideline to leave the resort or park 3 hours prior to flight departure. That guideline has worked fine for us.:)

Is this route relatively traffic free if one leaves the MK area at 4:30 in the afternoon?

Mostly. But there are a couple things to keep in mind:
- After you leave Disney property and before you get on the freeway (417), there are some traffic lights. There's one in particular that can get backed up at rush hour (I think its at International Drive).
- You may need to get gas. There's a Hess station just before the freeway entrance that is competitively priced (the WDW Hess stations should also work...if you're leaving Poly, the one at the CCC should do)
- Sometimes the two toll plazas on 417 ($1.50 each) are undermanned and can back up, especially at rush hour. You could get around this by using the exact coins lanes, which would mean bringing 12 quarters with you.
- The Rental Car Return can be a little confusing coming in the South entrance to the airport. Pay close attention to the signs.

Thanks -- I'll be cabbing or ride sharing it to the airport. When I do rent a car, you are right, getting gas on that route is particularly annoying, especially if you don't have quarters to feed the unmanned toll booths at some of the exit ramps.
