Hi everyone,

I am using Touring Plans to see the views from the buildings. When I put in "Magic Kingdom" under view- it lists Tuvalu and Aotearoa. Is that correct for the buildings with a theme park view (without the DVC buildings)?

If you have stayed in these- how is the walk to the main building?
The TTC?

Thanks! We have stayed at CR and my DH wanted to stay at the Poly this time so it is all new to me.

there's a great thread on the Resorts thread all about the Poly with pictures and where you can ask people who have gone and are going. =)

Yes, some of the north facing rooms in Tuvalu and in Aotearoa rooms are TPV rooms. Hawaii also offers TPV rooms but it is a club level building. Do a google search for Tikimans Polynesian website, he has approximate walking times from the different longhouses. Hope that helps!

We had a room in Aotearoa and it faced the lagoon (I think it was "standard view"). The ONLY thing keeping it from being a "theme park view" was a tree that partially blocked the view. We could see the castle from the far edge of the balcony though. We ended up LOVING that area. It was a really quick walk to the Ceremonial House via the side door near Trader Sams. We heard the drumming from the dinner show sometimes, but it wasn't like it woke us or kept us up. Other than the occasional drumming it was a very quiet area, no pool noise, no traffic, no boat horns....AND the little beach on that side was always empty and a great, private spot to watch the water parade or fireworks. The downside was that it was a longer walk to the laundry and to the TTC, but it was worth it. I would request that longhouse again!

My daughter and her family stayed in this longhouse in July. They did face teh monorail, btu said it was the quietest longhouse, and felt it was in a great location. They used their "private" beach, enjoyed a short stroll to the quiet pool, which they used more than the feature pool, and felt it was not far from the GCH at all. Since our favorite longhouse Tokelau, is now DVC, DD said they woudl request Aotearoa moving forward.

Thanks! I wonder about Tuvalu? It's on the edge of the water which is nice for views but I am wondering how far removed it feels when walking.

We stayed in a TPV room in Tuvalu in January/February 2016. We didn't mind the walk at all. I'd say it was maybe 3-4 min to the GCH and 10ish min to the TTC at a normal walking pace (maybe a little slower when our then 3 year old chose to walk instead of ride in his stroller...).

We liked the location because it was quiet, without any pool noise, and there's no one walking by because your room is right on the lagoon. We never heard anything from the luau either. The stroll over to GF was easy (also about 10 min). Our view was great. We had a third floor room, middle of the longhouse, with a balcony. We had absolutely no complaints whatsoever.

I've read a lot of posts where people talk about the "long" walks from various Longhouses including Tuvalu and I just don't understand that. But, we live in a relatively urban area, walk downtown from our home several times a week, and just consider that a part of our lifestyle. So...YMMV.

We also had a TPV room in Tuvalu in June 2015. It was wonderful and a short walk to the GCH. We had a ground floor which was nice; but I'm sure I would have loved the 3rd floor with balcony better. It was very quiet and peaceful.

The longest walk to the GHC from anywhere is 3-5 minutes, in fact you can walk the length of the Poly in 5-7 at normal walking speeds. I've measured these many times over the years. The Poly really isn't spread out at all. Both Tuvalu and Aotearoa are about 4 minutes max. Travel times within the grounds really aren't important factors when choosing a Poly building.

The walk to the TTC averages between 7-10 minutes for those two buildings and 5 from Hawaii.

Great info- thanks!

So should the only request I put in is for 3rd floor? Should that be our priority? Thanks again!

I dont get it either. I live in a rural community, so a walk is just a walk, you really udon the walk anywhere as a goal unless it is to the minimart, one mile away. But when it comes to walking at any of these resorts, with indoor or outside corridors, Unless there is an issue with walking, I do not see that walking anywhere within the confines of the resort is really an issue.
