please someone tell me about a GOOD experience you've had at the poly. I've been reading bad posts about the poly and am getting nervous.:earseek: :earsboy: :bounce:

The Poly is wonderful. We stayed there 4th of July 2002 and again this 4th of July. Both times we got the building location of our choice. The rooms are large, no problems with housekeeping. Close proximity to everything. Great pool. Captain Cooks is very convenient for drinks and snacks.

The Polynesian is wonderful. The landscaping is so beautiful. Rooms are very large and clean, CMs are friendly and helpful. Many have been there for years and it shows. The location is the best in WDW we think. Transportation options abound. Kona is great as is room service. We've not tried 'Ohana for dinner but many people love it, too. Other of the best restaurants at WDW are a monorail or boat ride away.

The pools are great and there are three beaches with hammocks and swings. There's a great marina.

Most of the recent negative posts I've seen are actually about the differnce in concierge at Tahiti as opposed to Hawaii. That doesn't affect most people's vacation.

Once in a while someone just doesn't like it. But I've always read that it has the highest percentage of return guests of all WDW resorts so it obviously makes most people very happy.

If it appeals to you, try it. I think you'll love it.

The Poly was near the bottom of my list of resorts to try. Never really cared for the tropical theme. Last year in November the AP rates were great and it is the resort my son always wanted to try. So since he is going away to college and probably won't be going with us again anytime soon I thought I would surprise him and book us as the Poly.

Wow! What a wonderful resort. So layed back and relaxed. Ohana's was wonderful. Fireworks from the beach (or your room!), the size of the rooms were great, monorail, wonderful pool. Everyone was friendly and helpful.

We stayed in Hawaii waterview third floor. When we walked into the room, the curtains were open on the hugh doorwall and all you could see was the castle. All of my kids (hard to impress teens) stopped in their tracks and went WOW!!! It was Disney magic at its best.

Having the marina is a plus also. The only negative I can think of is no hot tub. Other than that it is a resort not to be missed!!!!

Keep in mind that no resort, or its many CM's, or its guests are perfect. There is always a little something that could have been better, but so much more that was the best! Go and have a great time!

If you go back and read the "bad reports" it's not a bad report on the "Resort", but rather on a single building within the "Resort". I haven't read any negativity about the Polynesian itself.

Many of us who are repeat visitors to the concierge service have complained about the change from Hawaii to Tahiti. This change was necessary because Hawaii is being refurbished (much needed). Further, no one was complaining about the staff of the concierge service (for the most part) rather the overcrowding of this one building for a concierge service. I believe the majority of those reviews were also comparing and contrasting the two buildings and the concierge experience.

Rest assured, the Polynesian remains our favorite resort despite the bumps in the road. I think almost everyone who has posted recently would agree--the Polynesian Resort is wonderful. I would bet that if you had not stayed concierge previously--you would think the service was terrific. Further, if you stay nonconcierge--you'll never see what others (including me) have mentioned.

Relax--go--enjoy a wonderful stay at our favorite resort!

I have been to WDW twice a year for the past seven years and always stay on property. This time I was fortunate enough to stay at the Poly during the first week and a half of July. Out of all of the resorts I have stayed, the Poly is by far the absolue best! I've read posts about rude people and CM's, poor service, etc. I can tell you for the ten days I was there, I did not experience anything but pure Disney perfection. We made friends with people at the pool, the CM's were very professional, rooms are spotless and the service in the restrauants is outstanding. I can't wait to stay there again.

Oh, I forgot to mention the Electrical Water Parade. Each night of the year it begins in front of the Polynesian. You can watch it from one of the beaches, 'Ohana, or your patio or balcony if you've booked a lagoon view room. It's a wonderful tradition that is now over 30 years old....and it always begins at the Polynesian as it did so many years ago!

We're big Poly fans too!

Contemporary was our home, until SoG was being remodeled and we were moved to the Poly. We were disappointed...but only until we got there. Now the Poly is our resort of choice.

Good access to transporation (boat/bus/monorail), good restaurants (Kona, Ohana, Captain Cooks, Luau), great tropical theme, and the CMs have been the best in our opinion.

This board is so big and diverse that the opinions vary. You can read good and reviews on most of spots in Disney. One person hates it and would never go back, another wouldn't come to Disney without going there. It's a matter of taste and the initial experience.

If you like tropical settings and want a laid back atmosphere then you should be OK. Just don't go there expecting something that it wasn't intended to be and you'll be OK.

Well, we will have stayed there three times in 12 months, that should say something. The atmosphere at the Poly is hard to put into words, it just feels like Disney. From the moment you walk into the lobby with it's waterfalls and tropical plants you are transported into vacation mode. Every CM we have met has been wonderful, from the check-in desk to Cap't Cook's. Our rooms were always clean with no smell. The few times we encountered golf carts the CMs always greeted us with "Aloha". Let's face it, staying at the Poly isn't cheap and we wouldn't keep returning if our experiences were anything less than magical. Geez I wish Septmber would hurry up and get here!:bounce:

Well, all I can say is -

Our trips to WDW:
1991 - Poly
1993 - Poly
2000 - Poly
2001 - Poly
2002 - Poly
10/18/03-10/24/03 - Poly

We LOVE this resort! Theming, location, service - all GREAT!

Debbie

Thank you, thank you and thank you!:Pinkbounc :bounce:
I'm getting so excited!
I just signed on and saw this thread up at the top.
YES!

We stayed at the Poly during our very first visit to WDW a couple of years ago. The whole experience was so magical, that when we planned our upcoming land and sea trip, it had[B/] to be the Poly.

Its hard to pick the best part. . . . I felt the rooms were very spacious, the food and service terrific and access to the monorail superb. Every CM greeted us with "Aloha." We also loved sitting on the beach watching the fireworks and the castle.

Only 207 more days until we return!

The Poly is great. The grounds are stunning. The pool is great. The view of the castle at MK from the beautiful beach is wonderful. It has the best access to both MK and Epcot. If you have kids and need a night out, the Neverland Club is the best. The rooms are huge and I, personally, like the decor. We were there last May and we are planning to return to WDW next year. My wife wants to try another resort (not becuase she did not like it, but because her firend keeps pushing the YC/BC resort), but I can not imagine any would be better. I am pushing to return to the Poly. We will see in a few months.

Since my boys were born, we have stayed at all of the AllStars, AKL and Poly with them. I had previous stays at POFQ and Cont. years ago. My DS (age 7) wants desperately to go back to the Poly. Both sons loved Neverland Club and the pool. I just love walking through the grounds, with the music and the torches...it's just fantastic. You can't beat the location, especially if you plan to go to the MK alot. Also, its a quick jaunt to the TTC for the monorail to Epcot. O'hana is fantastic. I know this sounds crazy but the room service pizza was out of this world too. I think we ordered it twice late night and we even had the concierge lounge to snack at as well. AKL is also a fantastic resort but it is so far removed from things. I really would like to try out SAB someday but the Poly is so hard to beat!
