Tikiman,
We leave in one week. Have spent many hours on your site soaking in all the Polynesian knowledge we can. Any updates coming before we leave? :cloud9:
Have requested Tokelau 3rd fl. garden view. Fingers crossed on one of those great rooms that also offer a lagoon view.
Anyway, to my questions. Do you have any experience with a late check out? Our flight does not leave until 6:30pm. I figure ME will p/u around 3:30-4pm and we will do lunch at WCC at 1:30pm on our departure day. Just wondering if they would honor a 1pm check out and if so is there a cost associated with this. Thought I would see what information you could pass on before asking.
Next question, we will arrive at POR first for a 3 night stay. Wondering if I could stop by the Polynesian some time during our POR stay and inquire about requesting a particular room #. If I can do this should it be the day before, 3 days out, early morning of check in, etc. and also what room # would use recommend in Tokelau?

Thanks for your wisdom.

I'm sure Tikiman will answer your questions as well, but I thought I'd throw my two cents in...

I have requested a late check-out many times and have never had a problem. Ask them when you arrive, or, as I have done, just call the front desk the night before. They will allow you to stay in your room until 1p.m. if it is availalbe ... and there is no extra charge for this. If it is extremely crowded, however, you may not have the option ... just ask when you're there.

About requesting room numbers ... I was told on my last trip that they assign rooms five days prior to arrival, but you can call-in your request at any time once your reservation is made. They will note your request on your reservation and will do their best to honor it.

And I would recommend room 3915 in Tokelau if you are looking for a specific room # ... great view on the end of the building ... side view of the castle. But any room in Tokelau is great.

Good luck.

Thanks Alohaguy. Wow! Looks like you have many Polynesian trips under your belt. Appreciate your response and any other info. you can pass on to a Poly 1st timer.

:wave2: :teeth: Hi we just returned from a wonderful stay at the Poly!!!!!4 days before we left for our trip(we spent the first 6 nights at CSR) so the fax to the Poly was actually 11 days before we arrived at the Poly we faxed in our requests and we recieved every one. We asked for Samoa building either 1st or 3rd floor close to the Volcano pool and we recieved room 1603. When we checked in the wonderful CM at the front desk said " you recieved everything you requested". The room was perfect for us, just a short walk outside our room and right into the pool. Just a short walk and we were at the beach. Just a short walk and we were at the GCH. Everything was wonderful. My DH had never been to the World and now he cant wait to go back! Something always says vacation to us when we look out our room and see tiki torches tropical flowers and palm trees(were from the Pacific NW so we never see this except for vacations. Hope you have a great stay at the Poly! We are now Poly converts! Mimimom

bannister -

Just wanted to add that if the resort is full (and this time of year it may be near 100% occupancy) your chances of getting a specific room # will be lower than at other times. The request you made for 3rd floor Tokelau is a very good choice, but you likely won't be disappointed with any room they put you in.

Have fun.

You can certainly request a later checkout, usually 1pm is the most they can do without charging you or making the room late for some one else checking in.

However I will tell you that right now through most of the rest of the summer Disney is running at almost 100% occupancy at all resorts. They have even had some overbookings. Also the Polynesian has started some of the new rehab of the rooms in Rapi Nui. So that is decreasing the number of rooms they have available for over flow.

So please do not be disappointed if you do not get your late checkout and I seriously doubt you can get a specific room. Getting in a certain building might be as much as you can hope for.

As Minimom did by asking for a a certain building and 2 floors she increased her chances of getting something there. By asking for a certain room, you truly decrease your chance of getting it and then might not even get in that building. I would make my request more lenient than that.

Just wanted to say:

See ya at the Poly, I will be there next week (the 19th-26), with 2 kids & my parents in tow (only til Saturday).

We'll see you there, MonorailSilver! This is our 2nd trip to Disney and our first Poly stay. Can't wait. Hope we have decent weather. It will be me(DW), my DH, DD11, DD8, and DS 3. We have been looking so forward to this for so long that I can't believe how close we are. The kids want to pack NOW and have had their suitcases out for weeks. Now going off topic, but just heard about the girl in critical condition this morning after riding TOT. Then the Mission Space incident a few weeks ago. I had hoped my girls would not have heard about the death following the MS ride, but it was all over the news. Hopefully, they will not hear about TOT today. They are somewhat anxious about riding the big rides and I know they would not ride either of these regardless. Drives my husband crazy, but I would never force them to get on a ride. Last time we went my husband and I just used fast pass and took turns staying with the kids.
