Poly Room Size vs. YC Pool

My family will be making our first trip to WDW next summer. We will be there for 4 nignts before heading to the Disney Wonder for 4 nights. We are so excited, but I can't decide on whether to stay at the Poly or the YC.

We are a family of 5 (2 teenage boys :cool1: :cool1: and 1 princess: daughter who will 8). I know that the rooms at the Poly are bigger and the Monorail is a big advantage, but the boys want the water activities at the YC and will probably prefer spending more time at Epcot.

Are the rooms too small at the YC for all of us comfortably? Will the Poly pool be too tame for the teenagers?

Hubby says its up to me, but he doesn't want to change resorts during our stay. Any suggestions?

Thanks.....

1) I stayed at BC, which I presume has same sized rooms as YC, per category of room. It might be a tight squeeze for 5, but it could be done, I suppose. Poly rooms are definitely bigger, but I really don't know if the size difference would be all that noticeable.

2) SAB is a great pool, I admit. But the Volcano pool at the Poly is no slouch, and I actually think the slide at the Volcano pool is far superior to the one at SAB, and easier to get to.

3) Being next door to EPCOT, if that's the park you'd prefer more than MK, is a definite huge advantage to YC/BC. However, keep in mind that at the Poly, you can walk next door to the TTC and catch the direct EPCOT monorail from there. You can't do that from any other MK area resort. It's not as fast as being able to literally walk right into the Intl. Gateway entrance from YC, but it's quite convenient.

4) Don't forget the boat to MGM, which is a pretty big factor also in BC/YC's favor. Poly has no easy way, except the bus, to get to MGM. But the Poly has MK as its 2nd park that's easy to get to, in addition to EPCOT.

We did a YC/Cr split. I've heard that the CR rooms are about the largest on property, but the YC rooms FELT larger to me because they were so much better organized.

I agree that the YC rooms may be more of a tight fit than Poly. However, think about how much time you will all be in the room at the same time except to sleep.

We just stayed at BC with our friends (with 2 teens) and my son is 8 (we each had our own room). They spent all of their time at Stormalong Bay. The Poly pool is really nice too, but there was more to do at YC/BC. The kids in our group also enjoyed going to the Boardwalk every night. There was something there for everyone in the group!

Location is big factor. If you want to spend more time at Epcot, then definitely stay at YC. Also, you can take boat to MGM. It's a nice 20 minute ride. The walk to Epcot is only 5-7 minutes. Also, there are a ton of restaurants within walking distance if that is important to you.

That being said, I'm a huge Poly fan. We are staying there again in December. The monorail is very convenient. You can even walk to the TTC in about 5 minutes and hop on the monorail to Epcot.

Hope I was helpful more than confusing.

Thanks for all the advice. I have reservations at the Poly (because of the bigger rooms) and I'll continue to look at my options, since I still have lots (?) of time. Hubby even thought dividing out time would be ok if WDW would move all our stuff.
