Poly refurb

I just received an email from DVC stating that they are moving one of my Poly reservations to a hotel side reservation. The problem I have is that I have multiple Poly reservations and none of them are for my family. Anyone else get an email? When is your reservation?

I’m waiting for Member Services, but sometimes they are not the fastest! So, I thought I would try here too!

So, my wait wasn’t very long. I used chat. The answer I received wasn’t very satisfying. I have three Poly reservations: one happening now, and two in January. The agent I chatted with told me the email would apply to the most recent reservation.

I don’t understand why they don’t put the reservation number in the email!

I've wished for that myself in the notifications they send out. It would be very helpful.

Even better, the email asks me to respond to the email to confirm the modification by June 29, but then, in the small print, it states “do not reply to this email..”

Which is a hilarious and likely untrue statement. The resort side refurb, yeah. They have not even started the DVC softgoods refurb and it is nearly July.

This happened to me too. My reservation is 8/25-8/29 and they said they were moving me to a lagoon view hotel room. I tried using chat to ask but the guy said I had to call and it was a 45 wait on the phone.

Got through to member services today. The long house with the lake view DVC studios is being refurbed so they are moving anyone with a room booked for my travel dates to lagoon view hotel rooms. At least they will be brand new rooms. I am not an expert on Poly hotel rooms but my understanding is the only lagoon view rooms that aren’t club level are in Tuvalu or Aotearoa Which are the opposite side of the resort from the DVC rooms. Closer to the main pool, marina/boat launch and the GCH but with the monorail station down and unlikely to be back by my stay it’s a further walk to the TTC. If the EPCOT monorail isn’t back by Aug then it won’t matter much.

We have a 10/3-10/7 at the Poly and have not gotten any communication. Maybe they anticipate it being done by October 1st? Seems like something is happening on the 1st...

How are these rooms equivalent to a Studio? Do they have two showers? Do they have a microwave, sink, kitchenette area? Will they provide free Laundry? If not, then they are not the same.

I have a stay the week before the 50th and also haven't gotten any emails about swapping to another room.

My arrival date is 9/11 so far nothing about my room yet. I'd like to see the new rooms but DH wants his waterfall shower! We had a standard room view booked so maybe we won't get swapped since we don't have a lake view. I keep waiting to see.

This is tough because the hotel rooms are a significant downgrade to the DVC studio villas, even with the recent refurb. Wonder if they'll offer alternative resort options as well if you press them on it.

I am sure that if they can find you a DVC room elsewhere for the same points, I’m sure they will accommodate.

I think a few years back when the values at AKV had to be removed because of updates to the hotel, they were able to give owners choices from what was still open.

A few years ago, we booked a DVC room at Jumbo House but were switched to a resort room. Disney gave us quite a big cash adjustment on our charge card. Have no idea if they still do, but might be worth exploring.
