I am still in a bit of a dilemma here. Planning our first trip to WDW, and I am very interested in doing a split stay, getting a taste of more of the resorts. I am pretty certain we will be staying at AoA for one portion of our trip (very likely the first portion of our 9 nights), and was leaning towards POF for the remainder. But, I keep getting drawn back to the Poly. I love Hawaii and tropical/exotic locations, but, after staying at Aulani last month, I am afraid it wont meet my expectations. Do you think we will be a bit disappointed? Or should I just go for it?

Thank you

Everyone's opinions are different, but we love the Poly and I think you should give it a try. We loved everything about it the minute we checked in. We do love the tropical atmosphere and think the Poly is a beautiful resort, but we have also been to Hawaii and although there really is no comparison between actual Hawaii and the Poly, the Poly is still very nice. It is a great resort with a relaxing tropical atmosphere that you can't get at any other Disney resort, IMO. Good luck with your decision.

Thank you for your input. Will still keep the Poly in the line up until we book. Although, I must say, I just fell in love with Yacht Club photos. :lovestruc

Is there anywhere to see general pricing by season, like they used to have? Or must I put in dates? Each time I put in our date range, it says nothing is available, anywhere. Guessing 2014 isn't released yet....

YC is our favorite, but I would take into consideration which parks you visit most. We spend a good deal of time at Epcot. If we were big Magic Kingdom folks the Poly would be my choice.

Our stay will be pretty equal. 1 AK, 1 DHS, 1.5 MK, 1.5 EPCOT, and possibly an evening in either EPCOT or MK.

You're welcome :). We've never stayed at the YC, but have visited many times and that is also a beautiful resort. Our preference is the Poly, but you really can't go wrong with either one.

You haven't been able to get a quote for 2014 because those rates have not been released yet. New rates have been known to come out in August, but have come out as early as June/July the last 2 years. You can book room only now by calling (which will be quoted at the highest rate for 2013 and then adjusted), but to get an accurate quote, book a package, or book online, you have to wait until the 2014 rates are released.

I have to wait until August regardless to pinpoint our dates, so no big deal. Was just trying to get an idea. I remember last year (when I was looking for this year), each resort page would have a list of prices with dates. Doesn't appear the new site has that.

We stayed at the Poly our first four visits with DD12 (DW and I stayed twice at the Contemporary before). The fourth visit we did a split between the Poly and BC and last year she agreed to stay at GF. She really liked that also but when I asked her about this year she said the Poly would be okay but she wanted to stay at BC for the end of our trip even though we are staying at BC earlier. I wanted to go back to the Poly, she said her preference was based on proximity to Epcot and SAB, in that order. I am now wondering if three trips to Aulani since our last stay at the Poly have taken off some of the sheen? I'll have to ask her. That all being said, I think the Poly is a beautiful resort and although the theming isn't up to Aulani standards, I bet no one in our family would be disappointed if we went there. I love the location and theming. I don't love the location of AKL, but the level of theming reminds me of Aulani. The problem for us with Disney resorts is after staying at one, we want to the next time too! The multiple split stays we do can eat into touring time, but luckily we usually make up lost time by going to the parks near where we are staying (at Poly-MK,EP; at BC EP, HS).

I am sure you'll have a great time at either hotel and I can't imagine going wrong with either of them, but Poly then YC would be my choices (we haven't stayed at POF, but I'm sure if we did, we would have good things to say about it also).

We are doing a split stay 8/8-8/12 at Poly and 8/12-8/16 at AoA LK. Hoping for the best of both worlds :)
