Poly Questions..... for anyone that has an opinion!

Here's the scoop:

I am planning an all girl's trip for November 12-19. For the bulk of our trip we will be staying at BWV's in a preferred room (Boardwalk view), but, because Fridays and Saturdays take twice as many points, we move to a resort and pay cash (hopefully AP rates) for those 2 days. For this trip I'm thinking about staying at the POly on the night we arrive (Saturday). We will not be arriving in Orlando until at least 5:30pm.

I know absolutely nothing about the Poly- I don't know what kind of room types there are, which building to reserve in etc. Does the Poly ever give complementary upgrades? Will checking in at 5:30 or later be a detriment in trying to get the room I want in the building I want? We'd probably get the least expensive room, or next up the line. What are these rooms like , and what the heck are they called????

ANY info you can share about best location of rooms and types of rooms would really be appreciated.

I think a garden view room is the least expensive room type, though still not cheap by any means. You might also want to request a building near the Great Ceremonial House ( main lobby ) for ease of access to the restaurants, shops, busses, and monorail. The Poly is a bit spread out, but no matter which building you end up in, it's not any more than a 5 minute walk to the GCH, and shouldn't be a problem, unless it's raining. Have a great trip!

The POLY is amazing
I to am a DVC owner and it took me a long time to buy because of the POLY
ther si nothing DVC has to offer that comes close the grounds any room and any building is nice. I rent to stay at the POLY once in a while.

Does the monorail only make 1 stop at the Poly? ANd is taht stop in The Ceremonial House> Do they have garden rooms or any rooms for that matter in the Ceremonial House?

The monorail stops in front of the GCH on the second level, about every 10 minutes or so. We have never received an upgrade, but we don't ask. We're happy staying in the Fiji building, and usually get our requested 2nd or 3rd floor room facing the marina.

We have stayed at the Poly 6 of the last 7 years, and we're planning to go again in November. The rooms are a good size and the theming and location can't be beat! If you've never stayed there, I would highly recommend it, and who knows, next time you may have the dilemma of deciding between where you have stayed in the past and staying again at the Poly. OOPS! Forgot to add that there are no guest rooms in the GCH. (at least not since our last trip in February).

The monorail only stops once at the Poly but if you're staying out near Tahiti, you could always get off at the TTC. Sometimes it felt like it was faster than walking to the GCH.

Yes, Fiji facing the marina is garden view. We stayed there in Dec. and had a great view of the Contemporary, Space MT and the Electric Water Pageant. We couldn't hear the luau from our room, but if you walked outside towards it you could definitly hear it- it sounded really cool.

I think the Poly has the best transportation options of any Disney resort. The monorail will take you straight to MK and a five minute walk will get you to the TTC where you can take a monorail to Epcot. The Poly is my favorite resort (well, tied with AKL.)

I would suggest making a late PS for dinner at 'Ohana. The food is fabulous and the setting and atmosphere are really what the Poly is all about.

Dinner at O'Hana's is a good idea. It'd be nice to come to the relasxing atmospehere of the Poly and a good meal at O'hana's after a long day of traveling from Oregon to Florida! That just sounds so good- doesn't it?
