I'm sure this has been asked already…but here it goes. Are there any plans for 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom villas at the Poly? If so when?

Technically, Phase 2, scheduled for summer 2015, includes the opening of Tokelau: Deluxe Studios, leisure lawn and BBQ pavilion. The pool and pool bar will follow later in the year.

Any further development is purely speculative at this point. Depending on the boards you follow, Fort Wilderness seems to be picking up steam, again, as the next DVC development.

no plans yet. some posters think it's possible.

OTOH, wdrl posted this:

I wouldn't build your hopes up for additional phases that might include more buildings. The 20 bungalows and 360 studios will probably be released in two or three phases. The initial timeshare license DVD has for the Polynesian Villas & Bungalows covers only 162 accommodations. That would cover the 20 bungalows and the 142 studios in the Moorea (formerly Tahiti) Longhouse. That is probably what will constitute Phase 1. Phase 2 and possibly Phase 3 will be comprised of the Pago Pago Longhouse Studios and the Tokelau Longhouse Studios when they come online.

Keep in mind that the word "Phase" has a different meaning to DVD than to the average person on the street. Did you know that BLT had 92 Phases, AKV had 120 Phases, and VGF had 10 Phases?

I have been told that the next phase is more studios. Nothing that I have been told or read hints at anything larger than studios being built at the Poly.

In the past month, Tikiman posted something to the effect that he thought they would need to add a new pool for a future phase. Maybe I misunderstood, but I definitely have the impression he was talking about beyond Tokelau as the future phase.

We really prefer a one bedroom so we can use the kitchen to cook dinner. The restaurants are impossibly expensive now, and the quality has taken a hit since the dining plan took over. Add that one can't book an ADR last minute, or even week of, so we buy groceries and cook in. That was 5 years ago on our last trip to WDW, I can't imagine the insane complexities now with all the FP+, and MDE, or what ever they call it. We're using our points at DLR.
When we get back there, we could book half the trip in a studio to experience the Poly, and at least have cocktails at Trader Sam's. But I don't see us having any quality dinners in the resort, as all the tables will be taken. I don't like planning ADR's that far out.

It's really just speculation.

The new credit card hold policy has made last-minute ADRs much easier to get. I could have gotten Chef Mickey's for dinner on Christmas Day just a day or two before this year, if I'd wanted it.

Agreed.

Disney (as do all good companies), changes plans all the time. See DVC Eagle Pines for reference to public announced plans that never happened.

When it comes to Poly, I trust Tikiman. He has a very good pulse on what they are considering.

There are future plans that they are moving forward on but if it does not get cut it would be 4 or 5 years from now.

And think about it, by then points will be $175 or more. Still can't imagine the cost pp as well as the point per stay will be worth it, but hey if I hit the Mega Millions, I will be buying in simply because I can.

Guess I had better start eating better! And cheaper!

Considering it took (will take) about 2 years to sell out VGF, (although part of that time a lot of points went to AKL), I can not imagine PVB selling out in any less that 3 years. Maybe 4.

Maybe it would help if we all put comments on dvcmembers.com (commenting on the latest article re: Poly) requesting the 1BR and 2BR layouts?

I'm sure DVD has several contingency plans for all sorts of future projects. And, as we have seen with PVB, the final plans can look vastly different than the early drafts.

I think we'll hear about the next DVC project within the next 12 months, whether it be at Polynesian Village, Wilderness, or some other place.

I assume that DVD always wants to have a resort located at WDW that it can sell to the general public. BLT was the focus until June 2011, then AKV carried the load until VGF sales started in May 2013. Its not a mere coincidence that PVB sales are starting up just as VGF is down to its last 500,000 points.

I can only speculate how long it will take PVB to sell out. Assuming it has 4+ million points, it might take it 3-4 years to sell out. If that is the case, then DVD will probably want another DVC resort ready to step into the void before then. And since it takes about 2 years of construction time to put together a DVC resort, we should see the new resort taking form within the next 12 months or so.

A question for you, Tikiman: Given the Hawaiian phrase in your avatar, should I presume you are looking forward to staying in a Pago Pago studio?

That puts it around the completion around the time they will be preparing for WDW's 50th anniversary. Hope they have a special celebration at the PV for the 50th, just like they did when WDW opened.
