Poly or GF for one night

My fiancé and I are getting married at WDW and are staying at AKL for most of the trip but we want to stay one last night at either Poly or GF.... We have stayed at the Poly before in the same room as our family but have never vacationed alone there before. I know that I love the Poly and it's my favorite but I feel like we should take the opportunity to stay at GF since we haven't before even though we don't really see it as our style.... I picture us hanging by the pool, going to Narcoosees for dinner, and either doing MK or Epcot at night. My heart is with the Poly but should we try GF?

Go where you feel the most comfortable and romantic. Follow ur heart. You can dine anywhere.

Personally, I wouldn't want to pack up, move, and wait for a new room to be ready just for one night! You will be "resort homeless" for a while. So if you move over in the morning, it may possibly be the afternoon before you could even get checked into the new room. Packing up a room is a bit of work!

I would stay where you are at AKL, and go to Narcoosees for dinner if you want!

If you go from resort to resort for dining, Uber is your friend. I costs so little!

Thats a tough decision those are my 2 faves.
I stayed at the poly a couple times and fell in love with it and didnt like the grand when i visited but then i stayed there because of a great deal and ended up staying there the past 4 trips because it was spectacular! You will love the grand when staying there. Poly still has a special place in my heart and im going back next trip. I say look at the room pics and see what you like. Whatever you pick is fine because they are right next to each other so you can visit the other easy.

Poly for sure out of those two choices. But Another option is book the last night at AK in CL or an upgraded room type then your other nights, you might get lucky and at check in you might get upgraded your entire stay to what the last night was booked. That happened to us. I'm a big believer in split stays but not for just 1 night. Save the money you would spend on moving to Poly and take a fireworks cruise, couples massage, etc..... Have fun!

Another point... Since u stayed at the Poly with ur family, u could do the GF and make it ur own.

I love Poly and I love GF! I think GF is very romantic. Great pools, great restaurants and a little quieter than Poly IMHO. The rooms were recently redone and ALL rooms get turndown service. Yes, I would recommend that you try it!

We've stayed at both and although the Poly is our favorite, I also love the GF. I don't think one is "better" than the other, it just depends which one appeals to you the most. I think the Poly is amazing as the tropical atmosphere is beautiful & relaxing, but the GF is beautiful as well. Like HairyChest, I didn't like the GF after many visits, but once I finally stayed there, I fell in love with it. My first choice is always the Poly, but the GF runs a very close second. Since you've already stayed at the Poly (even though it was with family), I think I'd give the GF a try this time. Good luck .

If you love the Poly and you are hanging at the pool I would stick with the Poly. Also, not sure if you are willing to change your reservation but my last 3 meals at Narcoosees have been horrible. IMO you should consider other dining options. Have fun and congrats!

What time of year? If it is in the Holiday season- hands down GF. Any other time of the year, you can't go wrong with either. We love both of them. We love being able to walk to the TTC from the Poly to get the express monorail to either MK or EPCOT. We love the band in the lobby of the GF in the evenings.

I feel the same way as you. I love the Poly and do not like the GF ambiance quite as much. From what other people have told me, staying at the GF is much better than visiting and a lot of people expressed a change of heart about it. That's a tough choice! I'm sure either will be a wonderful experience and they are both right answers. Maybe book whichever one has a better deal.

I would try the GF because you would create a new memory with your first stay there. I've been to both and both are wonderful but why not make something new for the newlyweds!!

And I would add that I think one night stays are way underrated. We do it all the time and love them.

We will stay with the GF...even though I bet Poly would still be my favorite, I like that we haven't stayed there, and the room looks nicer to me than the Poly room (love the poly villa look though)

I didn't think that i would like the GF after visiting there, but did end up liking it after staying there, it just has a relaxing ambience that doesn't come across when you're visiting. I still like the laid back atmosphere and conveniences of the Poly the best, but I don't rule out staying at GF anymore, I think you will like it as something different.
