Have stayed at Poly but not Contempory. As a family of 7 ( grandparents,3 kids and Mom and Dad), some want something new and some want Poly. Has anyone stayed at both? I think the Poly would cost us about $1,000 more. We are staying a week. Have heard on here about AP"s, which I know nothing about or using AAA. Which should I get? Stay is March 18-25. Thanks!!

We've stayed at both over the years and prefer the Contemporary, which originally I didn't think I would like. Having a tower room facing the MK and watching the fireworks at night can't be beat.

To be quite honest, I don't understand why the Poly cost more????

CR Tower MK view rack rate peak 2006 is $557.50, Garden view Poly $485.03. I think OP was comparing GV Poly to wing CR $366.84.

I love to Poly but have never stayed at the CR. I think the pool is nicer at Poly but you walk to MK from CR.

Forgot to add AP vs AAA. With AAA you can book much further out. I booked a AAA rate on our room at Poly for Oct the first week of March. I know that I have the room I want with a discount. Disney still hasn't released AP rates for my dates in October yet. When/if they release AP rates for my dates I can change to those if available. If not available I still have the room I want at a discount. BUT...I already had AAA so I don't know if I would get it just in hopes of the discount.

I've stayed at both and much prefer the poly... The cast member seem so much more pleasant especially in concerige Also the pool is so much better at the poly

I have stayed at both, but I would only stay at CR if I stayed in the Tower. If you are going to stay in the wing rooms, I would pick GV at the Poly.

Thanks everyone!! I will get AAA because I think it would be worth it. I got to thinking that maybe we'd just do the Wilderness again since in March a fireplace might be nice!! We did Animal Kingdom Lodge 2 yers ago and loved it but would rather have better transportation. Just found out that Wilderness Lodge is my grandson's favorite and he will be graduating and going away to college after this next year, so decided to go with what he picked! We can take the boat to both the CR and the Poly to catch the monorail too!

I prefer the Polynesian over the Contemporary--mainly because of theming and decor. I know the Contemporary is going under renovation and think I would like it more after they are finished, but not quite sure when they will be complete the renovations. The Polynesian is going under rehab, too but not sure about when that one will be complete either. I would suggest if you choose the Contemporary to get a Tower Room.

Well, I've been getting quotes and since I have to pay for 2 rooms and the plane tickets and all, I think we'll end up at Port Orleans this trip!!! Things have certainly went up in price since we've been there and the kids have gotten older too so that makes it more expensive! No one thinks they'd like a moderate because of no hot tub and no queen size beds but this will just be a time to find out!!! I think they'll love the food court!! Now, with so amny different ages, I just have to decide which would be beeter, French Quarters or Riverside!!! Never seen either one. Kids are 17, 14, and 7.

I've stayed at both and enjoyed both. It just depends on your taste. POFQ has a New Orleans feel and POR has more of a plantation, old south feel. You can look at pictures on www. allearsnet.com. of the different resorts That may give you a better idea of what you might prefer. Hope this is helpful. :)

I ended up making ressies at Port Orleans French Quarter. I could get 3 rooms ( 1 for the teenagers) and added the dining plan and still came in under a deluxe!! Now I just have to find something afforable for airline tickets!!! Thanks!!

This might make your group feel better - POFQ has a hot tub and a nice one at that.

It is secluded though away from the pool so with younger children it is a bit of a pain. Ask for a bldg close to the pool for quick access to the pool, food court, and buses.

That is teriffic!! Especially after I just paid the highest prices I've ever paid for airline tickets!!!! That hot tub will feel great after those long days in the parks!!!
