trying to decide between the two for our early December trip. My MIL has never been during christmas time and i really want it to be special. Which would you choose and why?

thanks!
Chrissy

I really liked BWI, you could view the EP area resort decos as well as the boardwalk itself with a short walk. And, it just seemed very old fashioned, classic American Christmas with the boardwalk theme and gingerbread. I think Poly does more of an exotic version of Christmas from what I have seen in pictures. So I would pick whichever theme sounds more appealing to you

Out of the two, BWI, no question about it! :thumbsup2

But, IMHO the best resort to stay at during Xmas time is WL and a close 2nd is the GF. ;)

I would choose based on location. The resorts and transportation are crowded at Christmas and I like being closest to wherever I'm spending the most time. I spent last Christmas at BWI and it worked great for me.

I think the holiday decor is nicer at BWI but honestly, the lobbies are so crowded that I wouldn't choose it for that reason. If I was going because that was important, I'd pick WL.

Wilderness Lodge. I know it is not the two you requested haha. But the WL is sooooo pretty when it is decorated for Xmas and has the greatest xmas feel in WDW IMO. However if I were to pick I would say BW. I stayed there in Dec one year and it was much more festive than the Poly which we visited quickly.

Depends on what is important to you.

I would pick Boardwalk because of the location. For me you just can't beat being able to walk to Epcot in a couple mins. We would probably eat most of our meals at Epcot if staying there. Also quick boat ride to DHS. All the Boardwalk offers right outside your door. ESPN club, Mini Golf, etc.

If you want to spend most of your time at MK then Poly is better location. Most would argue that Poly is a more scenic relaxing resort, while Boardwalk is in the middle of the action. It's really a personal choice.

We stayed at BWV in December a couple years ago. The main reason we really liked it was the proximity to Epcot and DHS. MK will be closed early 4 out of 7 days a week, so you'll be at the other parks more. And you'll have the boat to get to both of them.

If you stay at the Poly, you'll be doing a LOT of extra transportation to go to other parks. And I don't think their decorations are that wonderful. They are nice, just not really special.

Make sure you get park hoppers. There's Osborne Lights and all the storytellers and Illuminations at Epcot so there's much more to do and see for Christmas. Boardwalk's decorations are also really nice.

Yeah GF and WL are hard to beat. Loved going to both of those last year.

Will you have small children with you? If so, go for the POly, if not BWI for sure. The location next to Epcot and DHS is great and the decorations are lovely.

You mentioned you were looking at early Dec? If so, go with BW. The Polynesian is nice and all, but it's holiday decor leaves a bit to be desired!!
I have never felt the lobby at the BW is crowded...well, unless they are filming something. I have always been able to linger and look around. I love the ease of getting to two parks, as well as checking out the S/D and YC/BC. They all have great holiday decor as well.
I like WL at the holidays, but for truly incredible holiday decor, BW is wonderful.

Definitely the BWI. We were there in December 2011 and loved the theming and Christmas decor. We weren't all that impressed wit the Christmas decorations at the Poly.

Keep in mind that the Poly DVC construction may be underway by the time of your trip.
