Poly or BC

My DH and I are planning our first trip ever w/o kids. We have ressies at the BC, but I'm thinking I might want to try the Poly. Any advice or opinions to help us make this decision?

In 1997 we stayed at BC and really enjoyed it. I especially like the quick walk over to Epcot from BC. The boat ride to MGM was fun also. However, we went to the Laua at Poly while we were there and I fell in love with Poly. After the dinner show, we went to the main lodge area - to use the restrooms - I waited in the main lobby by a club. And enjoyed the live entertainment so much I didn't want to leave. It was like having my our Don Ho singing "Tiny Bubbles". I've not been able to afford Poly, we are leaving for Pop Century on Friday. I'm sure you will like either place. How can you go wrong at Disney.

Love the BC. I am a lone freak who just doesnt get the appeal of the Poly. Stay at the BC.

OK...I'm not going to be any help at all...

We were at YC in June and it is now my DH's favorite hotel. (to think he resisted staying IN WDW to begin with! )

I've never stayed at BC, but we were pretty much in the same hotel at the YC. We LOVED the YC/BC complex. Everything was always in immaculate condition and two of our favorite things wound up being our balcony (view of Boardwalk) and to take walks around the Boardwalk at night.

Now, we have plans to stay at Poly on our next trip. I've been there once when I was about 10. DH has never stayed there...but they have his favorite restaurant (Ohana's). So I'm sure there won't be any resisitance this time!

I would not hesitate to stay at either the YC or BC again (but YC is our favorite). We're only contemplating a stay at the Poly just for something different. We so enjoyed sitting on our balcony at YC watching IllumiNations that I can't wait to sit out at the Poly and watch Wishes!

I vote BC. DH & I stayed at YC on our honeymoon, and are on our way soon to BC with kids this time. When it was just DH & I we LOVED the location which is why we're returning. You can walk to Epcot and MGM, and the Boardwalk in the evening. We spent so much time in this area, it was great. And the hotel is beautiful.

What are you planning to do on your trip? Will you spend a lot of time in Epcot? At the pool? If so, I'd go with the BC. It has the best pool on property and is within walking distance of both MGM & EPCOT.

Will you spend a lot of time at the Magic Kingdom? Or in that area? If so, I'd go with the Poly.

Both are great. You can't go wrong with either one!

We have stayed at the Polynesian 3 times and we stayed at the Beach Club this past July. Both are great. Here are a few points about both:

Polynesian:
The Hotel facilities are much nicer. More of a grand resort. The Island atmosphere and garden is very relaxing. The rooms are larger and nicer. The dressing area can be closed off with a door from the rest of the room. The Monorail is worth it. The view of the castle at nignt is nice + the nightly water parade is nice. The Pool is great - daughter loved the Lava Slide. Ohana's dinner is just ok. Character breakfast is good though. Kona Cafe is great. Laou is just OK.

Beach Club:
The Best Location at WDW bar none. The pool is the best at WDW bar none. Bus waits to MK, water parks, DT Disney seem to be a little long. Very large hotel, but you don't get the feeling of a grand resort. Don't get me wrong, it's very nice, but with what seemed like relatively low ceilings, it seem like just another hotel to me. Located just accross from the Board Walk which is really neat. Flying Fish - best meal at WDW. Rooms are just OK. Dressing area open to the rest of the room. Buffet at Cape May is very good. Close to Yachtsman Steakhouse which is very good.

You really can't go wrong with either place.

I've not stayed at either (yet), but I've been looking at the same decision. My opinion is that if you are going withOUT kids, BC is a no-brainer. You are walking distance to Epcot so you have the international area for dinner choices. In addition, you are very close to the Boardwalk for more late night fun.

Even with one son, we are still leaning towards BC since Granny will be with us and will be happy to babysit so the wife and I can slip out to Jellyrolls some night.

first, let me say you cannot go wrong with either hotel! Those are my 2 favorites...

We stayed BC for a week in May and are returning to the Poly in December.

But...without children, I would stay at the BC or the BWI. Both are beautiful resorts with great restaurants in the resort or close by and both provide easy access to MGM and the "back door" of Epcot. JMHO but I'd save the Poly for a trip with the kids when the monorail may be more important.

My next stay (Dec 4-11) will be at the BC from 12/4-12/8 and then we move to the Poly for the remaining 3 nights. I'm travelling with a friend and we wanted the flexibility of being able to plan our days around Epcot and the MK. A split stay allows us that flexibility. If you need more info PM me and I can give you a spreadsheet (we're both obsessive IT women) that kind of centers our activities based on the resort we're staying at.
I've never done a split stay before but we'll have our own car (I live 80 miles from WDW, she's in Chicago) so moving our stuff won't be a problem. We even took the 'move day' into your plans.
So.....consider a split stay.

The Poly HANDS DOWN.

Reasoning - BC is stuffy and cold. Poly is loose, warm, relaxing and if there is a better view than the waterfront at the Poly anywhere on property I'd like to know about it! The sounds of the boats, the monorails zipping by in the distance just everything about the poly blows the beach club off the map.

In fact, I just booked a long weekend for the family. We arrive there tomorrow night until Sunday.

Thanks to all of your replies. I seem to be thinking the opposite from some of you though. I would rather stay at BC with children. My kids are teenagers, so they really do appreciate Epcot and they would love the pool.To me the Poly just seems more romantic, relaxing and the tropical theme is very important to me. I just changed our ressies to the Poly. I hope I'm not sorry, but like someone said, I don't think we could really go wrong with either one.

We're doing the best of both worlds next trip (and even a third!)....we're splitting stays between the Poly, the Beach Club and AKL. So excited!

She's not a lone freak. I know the Poly is remodeling, so maybe that'll be better...IMHO, the place is old and it shows. Monorail access is wonderful, but...

I like the Beach Club. It is fresh and bright and airy, lots of space in lobby. It is colorful, and the valet service is the best at WDW. Also a quick walk to Epcot's World Showcase.

it's hard for me to say because those are my 2 favorite resorts. We tend to alternate between the two to get a totally diffferent location and experience. I would say pick depending upon where you plan on spending the most time...MK or Epcot. Or, how about a split stay.
