Hi! I tried this question a week or so ago, but only got a few responses, so here we go again.

We are a family of 4- DS12, DD6, DH 48, Me, 38. We are staying at VWL renting points for 5 nights- so I need to cut out of DVC because of weekend costs :moped: We are from Southern IL- not really into fancy hotels, dressing up on vacation etc. I am currently booked at BC for 3 nights because of location and SAB. Lately I've begun to doubt my decision and being drawn to the Poly. We've never stayed at either, though we stayed at the Dolphin last year and loved the location. But I have always dreamed of Hawaii, but will probably never get there as DH won't fly!

HELP! :confused3

Really recommend the BC so you can be at an EPCOT area Resort since you were just at a MK Resort all week. SAB is awesome, walk to the BW and EPCOT, can walk to MGM but may want to take a boat. Beaches and Cream. It really cant be beat.

We are a family (Me 36, DW 28, DS13, DS 13, and DD 1) who have always split our stays between an Epcot resort and a MK resort. While all of the MK resorts are wonderful, the Poly to me is by far the best of them.

With that being said, the only real reason we ever stay at the Poly is because of the close proximity to the MK, and also because the boys love the arcade at the Contemporary (which is the best in all of DW). That is the only advantage I see to staying at a MK resort. If it weren't for the boys, we would always stay at an Epcot resort.

DW and I are Epcot, MGM and esp DTD people. The ride on the bus to and from DTD can seem daunting from the MK resorts. Also, there are many, many, many more dining options in the Epcot resort area.

I should add that our family is made up of night owls as well. We usually get up very early, go to the parks, take a long nap in the afternoon, and then usually end up somewhere late (either DTD or BW). So that is another reason we prefer the Epcot resort area- there are so many more late night options than in the MK resort area.

I don't know if this is helping at all, but I am just trying to offer some advantages to staying in the Epcot area. But if you decide the Poly, believe me I would blame you. We stay Poly Concierge on every trip for at least 2 of our usual 7 nights, and the boys love that as well. One of our fav things (DW and I) is to have drinks in the upstairs lounge in the GCH and then walk around the POLY late in the evening when it's peaceful and quiet. Extremely romantic.

Since you will be at VWL for part of your trip, I'd do BC. That way you can hit MGM/Epcot while you are there. Visit the Poly during your trip to see if it appeals to you. Some people love the theming and some people don't care for it.

I agree - I thought I'd really love the Poly, as I love the whole Tropical theme... But after staying there, I found it was just to dark & dank for me. I like the light, airy, cleanliness of the BC so much better. And, like others have said, I like splittling my stay between 2 areas if I am splitting (MK & Epcot, Epcot & AK etc....) I have a real preference for Epcot area resorts because the dining options are so much better & more convienent.

I voted BC -- It would be nice for you to have a different location for part of your trip. As you've said, there are many benefits to the BC/BW area.

While I haven't stayed at BC yet I have stayed at the Polynesian. We did like it a lot. But, I agree that after spending time at VWL and being close to MK it would be a nice change to stay in an Epcot resort. We have stayed at BWV several times now and will be at BCV in June. I think your kids will love SAB. My dd liked the Volcano Pool at the Polynesian when she was 10. But she is really looking forward to trying out SAB. In fact I think she actually liked Luna Park at BW better than the Volcano Pool.

There are some great spots to eat and it's fun to just meander around the Boardwalk area at night and check out the happenings there. The lack of food court type facilities is the only drawback at BC. We did like Capt. Cook's at the Polynesian. It was nice to just run in and grab something quick for either breakfast or lunch.

It's also a quick walk past the Swan/Dolphin to play mini-golf. That was a lot of fun. My dd, 11, loved it.
