Okay I understand that the Luau is a big deal with dancing and stuff. What is Ohana? Is it a restaurant or another event? I have heard mostly bad reviews for the Luau, What do you think? I would be bring a 3 and 5 yr. old.

Just went to Ohana last night... YUM. Ohana is a full service resturant that is served all you can eat, family style (meaning they bring it to you, it is not a buffet line). They bring salad first, that has an amazing dressing. Then the appetizers which are vegtable and shrimp wontons, fried rice, string beans and chicken wings. Then they bring meats... Turkey, shrimp, steak and Pork. You can get refills on whatever you like and your soft drinks are included in the price. They also have a dessert menu, but included in the price is pineapple with caramal sauce to dip in. The atmosphere there is fun, they have a singer and they play hula hoop games and different "kids" things.

I am not sure about a childrens menu, but most Disney resturants can accomodate macaroni and cheese, peanut butter and jelly, and chicken nuggets if you ask...that is if you have picky eaters.

Personally I am not a fan of the Luau, the food is good and the show is so-so... I am just the type of person that once I am done eating I am ready to leave, and the Luau does food first show second, drives me nuts. If you are interested in a dinner show do the Hoop Dee Doo, it is fantastic :)

My kids (8 & 10 yrs old) really enjoyed it. They both had kids meals...chicken tenders & fries and the other grilled cheese & fries. In addition to the hula hoops, they have coconut races using brooms to swat them. We had a lovely table with a view...a wonderful time!

Is Ohana like a dinner at Whispering Canyon or more like a dinner with entertainment?

I would suggest the Hoop-Dee-Doo instead of the Luau, esp with little ones. They will have so much more fun at the Hoo-Dee-Doo and you will too...I've not heard good things about the new Laua and the seating is not great. This if you want a dinner show, otherwise Ohana's is great for kids.

Have fun!!

My family and I went to the luau 09/24/04 and was very disappointed.
It just didn't have a luau feel at all. The first part of the show was more of a comedy skit and didn't hold my interest let alone my 3 yr old. The second part of the show was more the traditional luau dancing but still didn't have a luau feel. Food was ok but not great. We will definately try Ohana's next time.

My DW and I went to O'Hana's when we we stayed at the Poly for our Honeymoon last week and I must say I was dissapointed. If you have young children they will love the entertainment, the CM's really get them involved, and the appetizer lazy-susan was great. The meat they served off the skewers however, was extremely dry and tasteless. What a let down! We went pretty late at night, (9:30) so maybe that had something to do with it, but after reading the reviews here I was hoping for so much more.

I agree that Ohana's is fun for kids, but not much for adults without kids - the food is disappointing and the little ones are running all over the place with CM's providing the fun! Cute for families.
