Poly Oasis Pool Seating

Even if the cabanas weren't paid reservation, you're unlikely to get shade most of the time. There are only 3 of them. Unless you staked them out early, they are mostly taken.

There are umbrella tables at both pools. But shade is limited at both pools. 3 cabanas weren't making a substantial difference save for the people staking them out at 7AM.

I think the Poly needs to add more umbrellas between the loungers like they do at Aulani.

I'm not sure if people realize when considering renting these that the shade doesn't hit them until mid afternoon. Out of the three available, only one was reserved today, and the family who rented it spent until almost 2:00pm sitting at a shady table far behind the cabanas because it was full sun until then on all of the cabana seating. I hope they complained.

That picture of Aulani looks so nice, especially as I stare out the window at the snow and minus 10 wind chill. And I agree about the bar - and I'm not a hang out at the bar kinda gal. We've only gone to the Oasis pool in the late afternoon, but I sure hope they will add some more umbrellas for us non-cabana folk.

I'd love to see a picture. I think this would really detract from the overall look and feel of the pool. Aren't these the only shaded areas at this pool? The roofs are quite large, aren't they? This seems like a money grab with no concern for esthetic and the type of consumer that uses this pool. Before you know it, there will be meters on the loungers at all the pools. I am now even more disappointed that they scrapped the DVC pool plans at PBV as I feel like as a time share owner I don't want to be nickel and dimed or be excluded from lounging in the shade and relative quiet of the closest pool. So glad we decided not to add on here. I would be letting DVC know this is unacceptable if I owned here. You are paying at lot upfront and for dues to not be able to sit in shade at the pool closest to your villa.

I just saw this - here is a picture from just a day or two after they started requiring reservations. Just your standard pull out tape divider:

I have to say though that the shade is very lacking in the early part of the day. The roof line is too high to provide shade right under them.

The ducks were cute til we were right next to them when they flew in and all started doing their business one time. I just couldn't get past that.

It is disgusting when the ducks leave presents in the pools, just like it as disgusting when toddlers do it. It also is a reason for the pool to be shut down and have all the water filtered for a couple of hours. I would report the incident to the lifeguard.

ducks are in their natural habitat. they haven't received the "memo" about which pools are DVC pools, or which are "quiet" pools. they also dopn't know the difference between "guest pools" and lagoons, rivers, or other bodies of waters. I have seen them at every resort pool I visited. (I've stayed at almost all the resorts) I know they shut down the pools for a "code brown" (when parents won't use swim diapers for their toddlers and ruin the pool for a couple hours for everyone else) but there is NO way to keep the ducks out of pools, or to shut the pools down everytime there are ducks in the pool. none of us would ever be able to swim.
I grew up swiming in a river in Illinois. if you don't want to swim in a pool where ducks have been swimming (or "done their duty" ) you shouldn't swim in any outdoor pool in florida.

Ya obviously, I live in Illinois swam in the Tenn river when I was young as well, but I would prefer the poop not be at eye level floating at me rather get out till it's not in eye view. I have a pair of ducks, we call them Mr and Mrs Mallard, that come every spring into my pool and they are welcome till we start swimming in it.

Yeah, they have to prevent campers. People who stick their stuff there and leave, assuming since they put their shoes on a chair the cabana becomes theirs for the day -- even if they only use it for 5 minutes out of the 3 hours their stuff is there.

Another decent option would be something like a 5-min timer. But this requires a monitor. Basically if you put your stuff there and leave, your stuff gets moved aside.

It's kind of funny how entitled people feel about reserving chairs at pools by sticking their shoes on them. Think about if you went to McDonalds and you set your shoes on a chair and walked away. Is that your chair for the day? And nobody should be allowed to clean your mess up because by having deposited articles of clothing nearby makes it yours?

If people wouldn't camp, it wouldn't be necessary. But this is a common problem at all pools, not just the Poly.

CHogs (Chair Hogs): prevalent on cruise ship lido decks and resort poolscapes

DH & I are prone to sitting on balcony @ AKV when room is facing pool. Every trip we watch people lay down their towels before 8 am in prime territory. We'd seque down after coffee and enjoy the quiet pool that would slowly build with other guests by the time We'd depart around noon. Yes, those chairs would still be empty while other guests were now in seating in 2nd row trying to keep an eye on their kids.

If people want to pay $ to hold down a spot of turf via a cabana, go for it. Some people can't handle the sun and standing is difficult, certainly fair as long as alternative seating is available for the rest of us in adequate numbers. Conversely, if a large 'saved' section of free seats is empty for an hour +, I'd have no compunction as to neatly moving the placeholders and plopping down for a break.

I too, have a majorproblem with people "saving" chairs with towels, etc. and leaving for the parks, to have breakfast, etc. I see no problem however with someone saving their lounger while they go to a DSA for a smoke, or actually use the pool and swim or go to the bar to grab a drink,(not sit at the bar) or refill their mug or use the bathroom they don't have to stay glued to the lounger as long as you are in the pool area.common sense and all that.

Of course, most enjoying the pool still keep an eye on their gear. Easy enough to reclaim your stake.

However, if you're out of area/eyeshot for over an hour, then it's a horse of a different color IMO.

Moot point really, unless Disney cares to monitor it via pool boys as they do in some beach front resorts & the adult areas on certain cruise ships

agreed! at Disney's Vero Beach resort the pool is pretty crowded (as there's no parks to go to) you are not supposed to "claim" pool side seating and then go to the beach for an hour.

but one lady would get there every morning and claim 2 tables and about 10 loungers. her family would spend most of the time by the beach, but periodically come back to the pool to eat at the tables, etc. so selfish! and the lifeguards or other CMs did nothing.
