Poly - Maint fees - gonna get ugly?

It sounds like the rooms will have the "Moana" palette and textures. Here's the pull quote from this article about theming:

A Disney World spokeswoman on Monday said changes to the rooms will include a move to a Pacific Ocean-inspired color palette as well as details, patterns and textures from Disney’s “Moana,” an animated film that takes place partly on the Polynesian island of Motunui.

It sounds like the GCH is getting only a small refurb and it doesn't like the entire resort is being rethemed to Moana.

I believe the GCH closure is more around re-doing the monorail station. I suspect they will be rebuilding queues and security.

I like the color palette that was leaked last fall. I’ve always felt that the rooms, and especially the hallways, just felt dark and closed in. The colors for the hallway carpets were lighter, with brighter Polynesian floral designs. It didn’t have an “in your face” Moana theme. There were just subtle touches here and there that suggest Moana.

No. They cannot pass all maintenance to DVC.

Do we know this or just suspect this. Seems like they could push all the transportation cost on DVC if the cash side is not open. Example what would happen if they actually completely closed Poly forever on the cash side? I cant see Disney being responsible for a portion of costs if they are not using it.

We do know this.

They can only increase the dues up to 15%, which is effectively less because it is independent of property tax. They have to eat losses based on the breakage clause.

If they closed Poly forever it would be somewhat different but the expenses would also decrease, as expenses would exclude, for instance, all landscaping at Tonga, etc. They still would be constrained by annual increase percentages.
