So we fell in love with the Poly on our first visit and have not stayed at a different resort in 5 years!!! But….last year I really felt like a change would have made the trip better. We are booked at the BC for August, but DH is a big MK fan, and so are DS and DD. We're thinking of switching to a monorail resort. GF under construction - can't justify that for the money. Really want to try the Magic Kingdom view room at CR. We're all nervous that the theme/feel will be so different from the Poly that we will regret this. HELP:) I know we'll love Disney no matter what….just would love some opinions from Poly people who have made the switch…or anyone else who wants to share an opinion. Thanks!:cool1:

done both - Polyn and CR - that say CR is different.

CR is more active - plus the monorail going thru it just adds to the excitment.

Polyn as you know is very laid back.

that say you might consider BLT - now would have your family stay in a studio (they are small) - but a 1-bedroom might make your family change their favorite resort. It is connected to CR with a sky-bridge - so you have all the stuff at CR - but you are staying in a more restfully place.

plus really think the views of the MK are better at BLT than CR - although both are great.

We have stayed at both and prefer the Poly. CR has quite a few convention goers and just more "hustle and bustle". I did prefer the pool at CR; if it isn't actually bigger it sure seems so. We have stayed Club level at both and definitely prefer the Poly club; much bigger and so much more room for people to sit and watch fireworks, etc. Some families really prefer CR over the Poly for various reasons so I guess it all depends on what is most important to you about the resort and the whole experience.

Poly is my favorite but we like the CR too. It is always fun to mix things up. You could always do a split stay and try CR for a night or two. BC is nice too but if you are big MK fans then try CR. You will always wonder if you don't.

We Love the Poly, and will be staying there our next trip. I also really like CR. The walkway to MK can not be beat. I actually LIKE to stay in the garden wing. I find it very peaceful, and the walk to the Grand Concourse (at least that is what I call it), is very short.

Both resorts are great. The foliage and running paths at the Poly are much better. One thing I do find annoying while staying at CR is trying to catch a monorail for a late dinner at O'hana or one of the GF restaurants. They are usually PACKED with people leaving the parks.

OP, I totally understand your questing if would like staying at CR. The Poly is our favorite as well as the theme is spectacular. CR seems to sterile for me, but as we took the monorail around last time we got to "know" CR a little better. CR would be very convenient to MK and EPCOT.

The rooms look to be large with a day bed, similar in size to the Poly. Good food options, great transportation and the pool looks nice.

Plus the Poly would be only a short monorail ride away ;)

We love the Polynesian, but CR is our second favorite.

You'll love the ability to walk to and from the MK. It really is great not to deal with boats and monorails.

The pool area is also very nice.

If you have a MK view you truly see the park ... whereas at the Poly all you see is the tip of the castle and space mountain.

Maybe I don't belong here...we actually prefer CR.

I'm big on convenience. I love the convenience of CR. Especially if it is raining, very hot, or ver cold. you can go from your room at CR to ANY monorail dinign in minutes with minimal outdoor exposure. It's huge plus if you want to arrive at dinner wearing nice clothes and want to still look nice upon arrival.

At Poly, I disliked that we had to go down, outdside, and up again to get to the monorail. (It was especially annoying with a stroller in the pouring rain)

My considerable preference at CR is actually Bay Lake view. It's so pretty, you get a great view of the water parade, the pools, and you can see a tidbit of Epcot. But then we usually stay club level, so if we want to see the fireworks we just head over to the lounge . (plus, before ten pm, you get desssert!)

Admittedly, Poly has better theming. You can easily visit Poly for dinner. We also really like 'Ohana - but truly the trip from a room at Cr to Ohana is just about as fast as a trip from many rooms at CR - so long as the monorail is running.

No matter which - DO check the monorail service before you go.

As for GF, our last stay was in the outer club building. Other than the monorail interuptions - we really did not see the construction AT ALL. Really. I never heard it or anything. I don't even think we could see it from the slide pool.
On the other hand...BC is also REALLy nice in the summer. The pool is amazing, and BC is convenient to TWO parks.

Maybe try a split stay. That way, if you don't love either, you are only there a few days. The only trick is your second resort has to be room only. You can do your first four night stay as a package wiht dining and tickets (get the tickets for the full seven nights). Stay at BC. Go to Epcot, HS, and the resort pool. Eat in that area. Do the last three nights as a room only at CR. Stay 12th floor club level, Bay lake view. Go to AK and MK those days.

the best of both worlds! Disney will even transfer your luggage (all you pay is to tip bell services) We've done this and it was lots of fun! then again, I enjoy trying different resorts. They all have pros an dcons- I like discovering them.

Truly I liked CR much better AFTER I stayed there than before.

A couple of years ago when I realized how much we were now paying for the Poly I decided it was time to switch to CR. I checked with my wife and kids and everyone agreed to give it a go.

But then it suddenly occured to me. CR just can't compete with the Poly for theming. We stuck with the Poly and I am glad we did.

Our family loves the Poly but we tried CR this past April and enjoyed it. We go to Disney yearly so it made the trip a little different for us. A totally different feel from Poly, tho! It was nice to walk to MK. My DS5 loved that the monorail ran through the resort. I still like the Poly better, but the kids really loved CR.
