Can anyone recommend a longhouse at Poly? We'd like to be close to everything, have a balcony, nonsmoking? I noticed some have been refurbished, but they are too far from TTC. Also, some aren't scheduled to be done at all? Will I notice a difference? This is our first trip and I'm trying to make everything perfect! Thanks for your help. I'd also appreciate any Poly suggestions you can give. Our kids are 5 and 9!

thanks:bounce:

Tokelau and Tahiti are good choices. You would be close to the TTC (which you will use a lot) and you are a few minute walk to the GCH. The quiet pool is right near the longhouses and the volcano pool is just beyond the quiet pool. From the longhouses you can walk right down the beach to the volcano pool. Tokelau, Tahiti and Rapa Nui have no plans to go through the refurbishment that the others did because they never had the moisture problem that the older longhouse had (constructed when the resort opened). In 2001 these longhouses had a slight rehab with new paint and replacing some things that were worn so they should be in great shape. These longhouses also have balconies on the 2nd and 3rd floor, have a patio on the first floor and are non-smoking.

We stayed on the third floor in the Tokelau longhouse last January. The location was very convenient. It was nonsmoking and had balconies. We had garden view rooms, but were able to see out across the lagoon (the castle and the GF) from the balconies of our two rooms. We really enjoyed staying at the Polynesian.

Hope this helps :D !

I stayed also in the Tokelau building on the third floor garden view and it turned out the view was right in line with the Magic Kingdom. I found this building to be pretty quiet yet close to all property amentities and the TTC.

Wow! Thank you for your quick and helpful comments! Tikiman, I enjoy your site! I think I have found every Disney site there is! Your pages are great and informative! I appreciate Cdisney and Mom of 5 comments also.

Did all of you only request one building, the Tokelau? So far I asked for south side of the Tokelau building, facing west. But then I can't see the Magic Kingdom??? Thanks :bounce:

Tokelau rooms face west and east. The west side is the side everyone shoots for because it faces the pool and at the north end you have a lagoon view with the castle to your right. The North east end faces the TTC with a left view of the lagoon and the Contemporary. You can see pictures of the views on my Tokelau page and if you click on the Mickey ears it will give you a larger picture. There are many great longhouses at the Polynesian so even if you do not get Tokelau (or what every you request) don’t be disappointed. Every longhouse has great things about it. I myself have never requested a longhouse but I have looked to see what was available on a map once I got there to check in.

We have stayed at GF LV and BWV in the past - Jan and early December trips. We will be at WDW this June for 4/5 days. We are considering the Poly this time but I have some questions. I am concerned about the rehab. We would definitely want a LV, hopefully castle view, non-smoking, room. We would probably not be comfortable in an older or rehab - pending longhouse. I am concerned about the mold issue because of allergies. I am hoping for annual pass discount so probably wouldn't reserve concierge since I believe AP discount is not available at the concierge level. Should we save the poly for a future trip after the rehab or go for it? It will be DH, DDs ages 6 and 2.

The longhouses with lagoon view rooms are Aotearoa (done with rehab) Tuvalu (done with rehab) Hawaii (concierge) 2 rooms in Tokelau (not older construction) and Tahiti (not older construction).

I WOULD SUGGEST STAYING AT THE TAHITI LONGHOUSE. I FOUND THAT ONE TO BE LITTLE FAR FROM THE GCH BUT SO CLOSE TO THE TTC. IT COMES IN HANDY TO BE THAT CLOSE. IT IS CLOSE TO THE POOLS AND TO THE BEACH. I FOUND THAT TO BE MY FAVORITE LOCATION.
