Poly Lagoon rates in Feb 2009

Hi, I'm new to this board and am hoping some of you can help. I just called the Disney Reservation Center to inquire about rates/reservation of a 6-night stay at the Polynesian in early February 2009. All of the websites that I have searched have given a value season rate of about $440 for a Lagoon view room. The Disney rep I spoke to quoted me $658 for a Lagoon view room! Needless to say, I had to catch my breath when she was rattling off the total. Does this sound right to anyone? it sure doesn't to me, but then again, I've never stayed on property before. Any help/advice/sympathy would be much appreciated! Thanks to all!

It does sound like there may have been some confusion over what room category you were inquiring about. Rates also will vary greatly, depending on your dates of stay. Is your stay going to be prior to Feb 14th... or might it fall on/after Feb. 14th (putting you in peak season, with significantly higher rates)?

Additional adults in the room (more than 2) will also result in additional charges of c. $25 per. And there is a 12.5% resort tax. These can make a difference when looking at the total cost per night also.

Poly Lagoon View during value season/early Feb. is $440 (+ tax)... but increases to $585 weekdays/$605 weekends (+tax) during peak season, Feb. 14th through March 29th. In contrast, the Feb. 2008 rack rates for Lagoon View Club Level (concierge), range from $590 (value season) to $765/$785 (peak season). There may be (probably will be) a room rate increase in 2009. But I wouldn't expect that increase to be much more than c. $10-$20 per night, based on historic rate increases.

Not sure about the Poly but when I called today to make a ressie for the YC for January 2009 (value season) standard room, they quoted me $495 with tax. This years value rate was $325 without tax. I about had a heart attack but the CM told me that they didn't have 2009 rates out yet and there was a possibility that the rates would increase. Another poster today told me that the rate was for standard room during peak season and it should be adjusted when the actual rates come out. I hope this helps.
