I am so excited to be going to the Poly in December. Knowing all hours seem to be less in December- I would like to know from others- how late is swimming in the pools? I requested the Samoa (knowing my boys would LOVE the pool) so I hope it gets use then. Is it ok to bring food there to eat? Also- for anyone who goes first week in December-how much of a touring plan is necessary? I have heard people stay away from extra magic hour because EVERYONE goes to that park. But the extra hour would be great with less park hours. Also- any advice for breakfast at the Poly? My guys are not big on breakfast- what can you grab fast on the way to the busses? Hope to hear from you!! I am the official trip planner! Please send back some great advice!!

Hi - For everything you could possibly want to know about the Poly, check out Steve's site : www.tikiman2001.homestead.com.
During the off-season, there are lifeguards on duty until 10:00pm (usually), but you can swim 24 hrs. a day (the slide is closed when the lifeguards aren't there). It might be chilly out- so bring something warm to wear to and from the pool (It is December!).
As far as breakfast is concerned -they do have a foodcourt -Capt. cooks; or you can just pack some granola bars and little cereal boxes to tide you over until lunch (especially if you are going to Early entry) (You can grab OJ and milk at the food court, or bring a cooler and stop at a store on your way to WDW). And you don't have to take the busses everywhere - You can take a boat or monorail to the MK, walk to the TTC and hop the monorail to Epcot (You could always take the monorail to the TTC and switch, but I think walking is faster). Use the busses for MGM, AK. As far as early entry goes - I think it's wonderful if you can be there right when they open - that way you can take advantage of a couple hours of nearly deserted park- but then I would change to another park after that. Have a wonderful trip- Jill

Thanks for the info! I checked out Steve's site- hadn't heard of it before and it is very useful. Question about the shops at the Poly- are you able to buy snacks (juice, granola bars, etc) to pack for a quick exit to the parks? We will be using Disney transportation, so a trip to Publix/supermarket is out of the question. How are the prices, and do they stock foods that will work for this? Also- is eating allowed poolside?

I think Capt. Cooks has juice, granola bars etc. that you can buy to take for a quick exit to the parks- but expect to pay ALOT more than what you'd pay for in a store. Me, I would just pack a box of the kids favorite granola bars to save a few bucks.
Also- How are you getting to WDW? If you are taking a town car, most will stop for a 10 minute grocery store stop on the way to WDW. If you are taking Mears, then you will have to make do with waht you bring or can get at WDW. (I think that a town car costs about the same as 3 people on Mears - but I'm not sure because we always rent a car) (Check www.mousesavers.com for a complete discussion about town car vs. Mears etc.).
I'm not sure about eating poolside, never tried it- but they do have tables set up not far from the pool (near the pool's lounge) and I'm sure you can eat there.
