Planning a trip the Polynesian with a lagoon view. Which building is better, Hawaii or Tahiti? Is a third floor or first floor room better? Interested in being able to view the fireworks from the MK and the water parade.

We had a lagoon view from the 3rd floor Tahiti a few years ago, for MNSSHP. It was brilliant! We could see the huge lit pumpkin balloons from the room, and even hear music during the fireworks. We had front row seats for the fireworks, and the Nightly Water Parade as well. I don't have any pics, but it was a great view, :) The Castle was nearly dead center to our balcony, or it seemed like it was. Such an incredible view in the morning of the Castle, all sparkling, beckoning us to get over there :)

The first poster is correct, Hawaii is concierge. Tahiti has great views from any of the three floors, but I prefer 3rd. I've heard others say that Tahiti is too far removed for their tastes--I love it--short walk to TTC, short walk to GCH, short walk to the pools. . .quiet and a private beach! Then, of course, there's that little known fact the rooms in Tahiti are a bit larger than the others at Polynesian--just a tad. . . ;)

Tahiti was far from the Longhouse, and without a hot tub to soak in after a long, tiring day,, we have taken the Poly off our list of resorts to stay at again. It was faster and quicker to walk over to the TTC and hop on the monorail there to the MK, than to trek to the main building where the Poly monorail picks up at. But I did love the view from our room. No complaints there at all :) I didn't know at the time that the rooms were bigger there,, I did notice that they were bigger than the other deluxes we had stayed in before, but I thought all the rooms there would have been like that. Guess we lucked out :flower1:

I stayed in Tahiti back in October and loved its location. It is a little farther from the Grand Ceremonial House but it's maybe a 3 minute walk and the grounds are gorgeous, especially at night with the torches lit.

I liked the beach at Tahiti as it was never very crowded and Tahiti is also the closest to the TTC.

Without any doubts whatsoever - TAHITI is the BEST building at the Polynesian!

The rooms are the largest standard rooms on site in this building and all the bathrooms offer double sinks. The Tahiti beach is very quiet and private. The view to the MK is sensational and there are hammocks and chairs on the beach. Tahiti is SO close to the TTC - literally a 3 minute walk. The GCH is about a 5 minute walk.

Seriously, Tahiti is truly magical. We prefer first floor rooms for easy access on to the beach.

I can't wait to go back this August! :cool1:

When we stayed at the Polynesian in '03, I really wanted to stay in Tahiti. But, it was being used for concierge since Hawaii was being rehabbed. It's a terrific spot. We did end up in Tokelau which was nice also, just not as nice as Tahiti. We did watch the EWP and the fireworks from the beach area, right outside Tahiti. It was so romantic and nice.

The only time I minded the walk was if it was a downpour. To me, that is the only downside to staying at the Polynesian. Depending on where your room is at other deluxes, you could have a huge hike to the transportation area. I really didn't think the walk was all that long at the Polynesian. Try staying at Boardwalk Villas...now those rooms can be a hike!!!

We don't use the hot tubs so that's a non-issue for us. I hate being in them with people I don't know. And there is always someone in them at night.

As was already said Hawaii is concierge and does have a slightly better view of the castle because it looks between the islands but Tahiti still is a great view and one of my favorite longhouses. The rooms are larger with double sinks in the bathroom and balconies on both upper floors and the beach is very quiet.

I love the quick walk to the TTC and I never considered a 5 minute walk long to the GCH. If I thought that walk was long I would not be vacationing in WDW (talk about walking). I never thought of no hot tub as an issue either since the jets and benches in the warmer water area feel the same to me as the jets in a hot tub except my feet are not getting tangled up with everyone else and after reading a medical report about hot tubs I will pass on going in unless it is in my back yard.

Either longhouse is great but it really depends on if you want to do concierge.

Aloha

Steve
