We will be staying at the Polynesian at the end of this month. Our first stay there, and have booked CL, with a garden view. I don't know if we should request a room on the patio level, or upper floor.

Does anyone have any experience with what might be the best option?

Thanks!

We always request a patio for Poly Garden View CL stays. You can walk out your door and take twenty steps to the quiet pool and my kids love the ducks and other animals that come visit. Some people will say the animals are a reason to not request a patio, but our family enjoys it. On the lagoon side, we prefer third floor, but you will need to book TP view to get it as I think there is only one lagoon view on that floor.

I always request a balcony. As the poster above said, I wouldn't want those little lizards running into my room. I'm sure patio is more convenient though.

We stayed poly cl theme park view....wanted either 3rd or 1st floor, got 1st and loved it....walking out that door to the slide pool was awesome, plus the extra room to sit instead of just the balcony...highly recommend it

On our Poly stay (GV, not CL) we had a first floor room in Samoa and it was nice. With that said, we are trying GV CL in December and I requested 3rd floor balcony, but I think either one would be nice :).

We just got back from Poly GV CL yesterday. I don't think you can go wrong with either floor. We were on the 3rd floor at the end of the longhouse. I kept thinking how convenient it would be not to have to wait for an elevator to get out of the building. Of course we could have taken the stairs but our legs and feet were sore from walking the parks all day! The CMs were great as was the food offerings. All the people we encountered were very friendly and nice to talk to. I wouldn't hesitate to stay CL at the Polynesian again.

It may be irrational as we will have 3 adults with, but I have a 2 year old that loves to climb and after reading about the recent incident at AKL, I'll be requesting ground floor. I'm staying garden view CL too.

We always request (and luckily have been granted) 3rd floor because of the balcony. I am really tempted to requested the 1st floor to try a patio next trip for a change. The patio does look convenient and there is no view obstruction that you get with the balcony rail when sitting. They are both good options.

We're another family that loves the ground floor rooms. When hanging out around the resort we typically have at least one person who likes to stay in the room so I don't worry about leaving the patio door unlocked. This makes it really easy for those of us who like to swim or wander around the resort to come and go via the patio door. It's really nice going out the patio door to the quiet pool. If nobody stays in the room then we do go out the regular door so we can lock up but it's nice not having to wait on an elevator or take the stairs when coming and going all day.

We have always stayed on the ground floor and we love it. To me it just seems like you are more in the nature of things since there are trees and foliage right outside your room. For me at least a balcony would take away from the natural beauty I feel.

Thank you for all the replies. I think we'll try for the 1st floor and see what happens!

I don't think you'll be disappointed. We used to be huge believers of the 3rd floor balcony rooms, but last trip we ended up with a 1st floor patio (stayed CL too) and it was amazing. We all loved it. Really enjoyed sitting on the patio at night to watch Wishes (we had TPV). Also nice to just zip out the slider and go to the beach or pool. We had a mom and baby ducks visit us often which we didn't mind, but unfortunately they left "evidence" on our patio so we'd have to make sure to slip on our shoes when going out on our patio (only drawback). We didn't encounter lizards on or near our patio.

We are trying to make the same decision. We have (1) TPV and (1) GV room in Hawaii booked for July 4th week for our family of six. We had a ground floor room a few years ago in a different building and the ducks were cute but were pretty messy. It would be great to be able to have beach access right out the door but maybe a balcony would be better? It's is great to have these "tough" decisions to make :)
