I have an app with push notifications on for new DVC listings. I had a poly listing pop up October use year 150 points for $99. I inquired a few mins later and it was sold. I was told it had 249 points available this year and 150 coming in 2021. Any speculation on why someone would list that low? I feel they could have easily sold for $120 per point in the same matter of time. Am I missing something?

They probably really needed the money.

Which app pushed that? I thought I had all of them covered but didn't see that one come through.

Nevermind I found it. That contract didn't sell unless they had two of them. DVC Resale Market is showing a contract with those exact attributes as "NEW" priced at $149. I'll bet they fat fingered the listing price and told you it sold instead of saying price mistake.

I think you’re correct. That was the app and I wouldn’t doubt that I was misled. A mistake seems far more likely than what I was told. I feel much better that I didn’t miss an incredible deal.

I had the same issue last week with the same broker different contract. I was ready to make a deal and it was a realistic price. The "new" price was the highest I have seen on that resort for that amount of points. I declined.

Interesting, I wonder if this is a recurring trend. Overall I find the app very helpful, and appreciate the instant notifications. I guess I’ll just have to be aware if something seems to good to be true. Although in your case it seems the original price was more realistic.

Like a bait and switch?

I've worked with these brokers in the past and found them to be totally professional. 100%. I am aggravated by not being able to negotiate a contract that was mispriced and the week before being asked to bid higher on another contract. $99 for Poly is of course, too low, but when you receive an email from a broker and it interests you, you respond. No, I can't believe it is "bait and switch", I think it is sloppy errors IMHO. It's frustrating for sure.

It's like finding that elusive Dark Star.
