Which would you prefer: Lagoon View Room or Garden Conceirge?

What are your experiences?

The Poly is booked for all Lagoon View Conceirge, so these are our choices. Please help!

Things that are important to us:

1) Close to GCH (pools don't really matter)
2) Would like something "special" or above the normal
3) We would utilize the continental breakfast, but probably not too many of the other conceirge amenities

Thanks!

I personally would prefer the amenities provided by the concierge as opposed to the view of the lagoon. Mainly because my family spends so little time in the room to take advantage of any view!:earsgirl:

Add my vote to the garden view concierge - the longue provides a wonderful view of the lagoon if you want to see it - and if your like us, most waking hours your not looking out windows anyway :earsboy:

I too vote for GVC; the amenities are so much more than the food in the lounge. Having the concierge make your PSs is fantastic - they can often get ressies that seem impossible and you can do it all in one call or via e-mail. The lounge is a wonderful place to relax when you want to get away from the room (esp. during rainy times), and the CL staff is great at making you feel special.

GVC Hands down. As soon as you walk out of your building, you are at the pool. beach, and have a great view of the castle/lagoon.

How much time do you spend in your room with the blinds open?

Hands down GVC. Don't know if you are like our family but we spend time in the room only for naps & bedtime. If you want to view the lagoon go into the lounge and you sit down by the window and enjoy the view :hyper:

Enjoy your trip. We took ours in May and are already planning for 2007 cruise/Poly concierge. My DDs absolutely loved the Poly Concierge and don't want to try any other property.

I also voted for the GVC! We stayed in a GVC room a couple of years ago and really liked it. We had a first floor room so it was easy to go out slider and to quiet pool. We also were frequently visited by a family of ducks on our patio which our young ds really enjoyed! It is a nice quiet location also, but quick and easy walk to the beach for fireworks or ELP!:)

The lounge never got overly crowded while we were there. I'd say it was full, but not crowded.

...and request Tahiti!

The view from Tahiti is incredible plus the rooms are about 50 square foot bigger than the concierge rooms plus you get double sinks in the bathroom (what more could you want?! ;) ) Tahiti is definitely, in my opinion, the best of the longhouses at The Polynesian. I say sacrifice the concierge facilities, save a bit of cash and have a breathtaking view each morning over seven seas lagoon and Magic Kingdom!

My vote is for standard lagoon view. We spent lots of time on our balcony with 2 small dd's in tow. The loung would get full and we only got a table once for the evening food offerings. We mostly ended up taking our food back to the room. I found that I really missed having a nice view from our room. Our children are small so breaks for swimming and to get out of the heat were very important for our family. If you will spend time in your room, Iwould go for the view. The concierge is nice. The staff is nice, but not what I expected from Disney. (we just got back June 13) If you've already got your ps' made, I wouldn't bother with the extra expense. You could do lots, and eat at many fine restarunts for what concierge costs. Don't get me wrong, we will probably stay poly concierge again if I save enough money for it; its just that it is very expensive and you should utilize all the services and offereings.

In either case, the Poly is just sooooo wonderful!! Tahiti building is a great location. I would recommend there also!

Have a wonderful trip. Let us know what you decide:teeth:

Just wanted to say that since being close to the GCH is a priority, you probably don't want Tahiti as it is the farthest away. It does have many advantages though as others have noted.

If breakfast is the only amenity you think you would use in Hawaii, then I would go with lagoon view and probably request Aerotrea (forgive the spelling!) It is very close to the GCH and Wishes from your room is spectacular.

If you do decide on concierge which we do love, I think the view of the fireworks is better from the beach than the lounge anyway.
