I believe that it says that a podcast interviewing him will be released, not that there will be anything from DVC.

Your statement is somewhat misleading.

Wow, that was fast.

The GFV rumors went on for MONTHS....it'd be really cool if they announced this early.

My addonitis is just itching all over....

I really don't want the Poly to be DVC.

I really DO want the Poly to be DVC! I'm struggling with how many total points we need, though, and if I would actually buy any points there. I really need 50 or so points sooner than later and know prices at th Poly will likely start at about $200 per point. I may just have to hope for a day or two being available at 7 months.

I'm a little confused about the timeline. Steve stated he heard work on phase one using the luau area should start the end of this year. Later in the podcast, though, he said the project was likely on track to open in 2017. I'm not sure if this date is for phase 2? I also find it hard to believe Disney would refurbish rooms in Tahiti and Rapa Nui then, within the next 2-3 years, tear a building down and convert the other to DVC but that's what was reported.

It was just a soft rehab.

Disney did more at the CR north wing - and then torn it down.

Not sure but think unlike the rest of the Polyn - these 2 building do not have that awful stuff for insulation -- so maybe it would be cheaper and easier to get rid of the stuff.

Rapa Nui and Tahiti were indeed built years after the initial Polynesian opening. I believe they were built in the 80's. Not sure if they have asbestos or not.

The Tahiti room my mother was in 2-3 years ago did have some disgusting mold. I would prefer if they tear down and build new for the health of all who stay there.

I don't see what is so great about the Poly. I stayed there on my honeymoon and was disappointed by this hotel. Other than a beautiful lobby, there isn't anything great about it. It is dirty and the food is terrible.

The nicest thing about poly for me is location. You can hit the monorail for the MK or walk to the TTC to get one to Epcot. While walking to the MK from BLT is great, we pic ally only do that in the morning. Later when it's hot, we are hitching a ride on an air conditioned monorail.

I feel the same way.

For MK access, BLT access is the best (walk to/from).

For MK and Epcot access, not going to beat Poly. Particularly in the Rapa Nui and Tahiti area where TTC is close by.

I would love to be able to stay at the Poly in a DVC room. I bet it would be a very popular place.

back in the 70's and 80's this was a great resort. The Cm's were the best on property - the management was there to serve you. It was magicial in more ways than one.

that say agree with you - went a few years ago - and the front desk was not friendly - was downright hostile. Now the girl was foreign - but can't believe how hostile she and the other girl were. Instead of trying to please me - which is what the old CM's did - this girl acted like I was interfering with her plans....

when called maintenance because mother was cold - there responsible was just to turn up the fan - which only made her colder.

It brings back fond memories of the our special stays there in the late 70's early 80's! Sure things have changed, Disney's more commercial, less friendly but I think I would still prefer a Poly DVC over BLT anyday! I love the location and the theme of the Poly and don't get me started on that Kona, pressed pot coffee!

The parking there is horrible as it is, with DVC it will be even worse, unless they do build a multi level garage.
