Poly drinks on the beach...

In another thread, someone suggested getting a "drink with an umbrella" and heading to the beach, grabbing a hammock and watching the electric light parade. THAT sounds like heaven to me! however, just one technical difficulty. Where would I get that drink with the umbrella? I am KINDA familiar with the Poly, and the only bars that I know of would probably frown with us taking their glassware outside...

so to all you Poly experts.... how do I go about legally doing this?

LOL, I'm waiting for a response too. I usually put my beer in a red Solo cup to go to the Poly beach but would love to know about the glass wear in case my DGF is interested. :)

ETA: I bring cups with me for this reason (and for the Epcot monorail ride & AK bus - shhhhh). The Poly does not supply them. I have beer delivered to the resort.

Get a lapu lapu, it comes in a pineapple, no need to worry about a glass.

Perhaps that is our problem in getting a response.. it's too early for those people that know how to get those umbrella drinks... perhaps they were up late doing just that! :rotfl2:

ahhhh... yes. I didn't think of the pool bar!!!! you guys are genius! so... any suggestions?

and hello Bobnoxious!! looks like we are neighbors!!

If the pool bar is closed, Tambu Lounge (in the GCH, next to Ohana) will use a plastic cup upon request.

Tambu Lounge will also make your drink a "to go" in plasticware. Unfortunately, many people do take their glassware from Tambu and you will see it sitting around at the end of the evening--very dangerous to piggy toes if you ask me.

A Lapu Lapu is basically, as I recall, a Mai Tai-type drink. Rum, fruity, and delicious. We prefer a Lava Flow (strawberry daiquiri and pina colada mixed) or the new version on the boards, a Lava Colada (raspberry and pina colada mixed). Both can be made "virgin", but they aren't quite as tasty. . .;) .

The pool bar is a full service bar as well, but it closes earlier in the later seasons and if the weather becomes inclement. They serve everything in plastic.

Tess i think you have me officially sold on the Lava Colada.. the non virgin type for me!! thank you thank you thank you!!

... but I am still open to other suggestions!;)

ah yes..one of my favorite memories from my june trip was getting raspberry mojitos (in plasticware!)from the Tambu lounge and sitting on a swing on the poly beach at 10:30 till who knows with my boyfriend..it was such a nice disney moment..watching the lights from the GF, sipping our delicious drinks, and it was vacant...have a great trip....enjoy your beach moments!

I didn't mention the pool bar because I have never seen it open in the evenings for the EWP or Wishes. That doesn't mean it never is just not when we have been there. As another poster said the lapu lapu is a mai tai in a pineapple. I also agree the lava flow and lava colada are yummy, but you can get them at other resort pool bars. I have only seen the lapu lapu at the Poly. I'm not sure they have it at the pool bar anyway, we always get it from the Tambu lounge.

I have made it my mission to find out which bar (barefoot or Tambu) makes the best drinks. I ran several experiments and researched many different kinds of drinks. After many charts and graphs and a lot of "up close and personal" taste tests, I have concluded that Tambu wins hands down... I like the glass but for road trips to the beach, plastic will work very nicely. BTW, a Mai Tai is still king with me

Lava Colada, Tambu Lounge, Lapu Lapu.... ahhhh the sounds of home. Can't wait, can't wait.
