We will staying a few nights as the Poly Dec 2008. There are 6 of us(one under 3) so just 1 room. We will not be on the dining plan because of a split stay. I would love to hear all of the positive and negatives about the concierge there. We have never stayed concierge before but had the dining plan in the past. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

In the ast I've loved the Poly Concierge. Unfortuantely in July, my experience was pretty bad.

The location is prime and the food/drinks are great, but over the past two years, the service has really gone down hill...not as personal as it used to be.

I don't think you can go wrong there, but if there is a problem, you really have to press to get some help.

Cheers,
Josh

Even though my parents and I are not scheduled to stay in the Hawaii Longhouse/Club Level building until this December, when we were at WDW in August we went to check it out to see where it was so we know how to find it. Also the Cast Member working at the checl-in desk said we could go look at the lounge. Anyway from what we saw it looked amazing, so we are looking forward to our upcoming stay there.

We have stayed in poly Concierge multiple times. The experience has always been fantastic! The food offerings are great and on many occasions I have seen them prepare special items for people with different diet concerns from diabetics to children on BRAT diets and those with nut allergies. Chef Dick is the best! They have always been very helpful when any issues arise, Our last trip we took my grandfather for his 80th birthday and they did so many extra special things to make it even more special we were amazed!!! Poly is my favorite place but concierge makes it even sweeter! I'm sure you'll have a fabulous time!

We did Poly concierge last nov/dec and we were not impressed. If you are looking for some kind of value for the money, its not for sure. We were only there because there were no garden rooms left and that is what we usually booked. They will help you with your dining arrangements. I had already made all of mine but they did help straighten out one problem with the candelight processional pkg. They were not overly friendly. They also had to work the desk in the main bldg, so how could they get to know the concierge guests etc. Never got a chocolate postcard, had various room issues upon check in, like locked safe, hole in wall, outlet that almost came out of wall, unlocking glass slider etc. All were fixed. Dont expect the lounge to be your meal, its only snacks or like horderves. Breakfast never changes each day, never found a muffin once, there is no lunch, just popcorn nuts etc. We only saw this once while waiting for our room to be ready. Show up promptly at 5 pm or you will be stalking for a table in the lounge. If you want to take food back to your room use the ice bucket tray in your room. I dont think we will consider the concierge again. We did have the desserts one night. They were good. Brought them back to the room etc.

stayed POLY concierge unexpectedly from Spet 18-25, 2007 (just a few weeks back, we had booked GV, requesting Tokelou but were upgraded to Hawaii, truthfully I missed the extra space but the CL made up for that)

We loved the lounge for everything from awesome view to delicious food.

We also are a party of 6 (one under 3years) so this may make my take on it different from others. As you are quite familiar with that number, I won't bore you, just say when you are feeding/watering :) a family of 6 it adds up quickly!

We never purchased a drink the entire 8 days we were there! Now we were on DDP but still, this is usually a budgeted item for us of around $100+easy and we often go over! The lounge always always had anything and everything you could want for kids from water bottles, to juice, soda, hot chocolate, milk (just ask, they will bring it out for you) and even mixed punches (non-alchoholic). Adult selection included beer, wine, mixed alcoholic drinks, and water, tea, sodas, again, just ask, they will probably have it. We couldn't get over the fact that it was all just available when we needed it. Can't speak much for beer/wine etc. as we don't drink those.

Morning continental breakfast was mostly breads I think altho I only went to lounge myself once. other days my DH brought it back to room for me. The Haiwain bread is yummy. Always cheese danish. Always fresh fruit and it was so good. Bagels and cream cheese. toaster available.

Although they do not serve lunch, there are always snacks out in afternoon. Popcorn, goldfish, really good chips and salsa, mixed nuts, soft baked cookies, usually 3 varieties, gummy sharks (my DD3's fav!). . .probably forgeting a few things.

Dinner is considered appetizers only. They have a different menu for each evening. I confess, we made this dinner at least twice for our 8 day trip! It was just so so good and convenient! There is a thread on here where someone scanned in the menu they give you at check in. . .I can't possiblly remember it all. My favorite were the lettuce wraps and turkey kabobs. they had pork and wings and so much more on other nights. Everything tasted so fresh and was replenished repeatedly during all hours they were open while we were there.

Desserts. oh my. and stuff for the little ones as well. 'nuf said. My DH asked me repeatedly if I was sure we would be to large a party to return for next year (Our DD turns 3). At approximately $100 more a night for CL, he thought for our family of 6 it was a bargain!! This from the man who is never happy to pay anything extra if he doesn't need to!

What did I forget? Ask away. We had a great time enjoying CL! Oh, DD12, DS4 and DD2 thought the tiny furniture and tv tuned to Disney channel were the best. DS15 just enjoyed the soda it seemed!

...one under 3...We will not be on the dining plan ...never stayed concierge ...had the dining plan in the past. Any information would be appreciated...
Concierge or Club is a place to relax and enjoy a snack, appetizer, drink or dessert depending on the time of the day. It is like an extended part of your room offering seating, views, and snacks/drinks.

The PR Club can get like a mess hall at times as many guest visit the club at a common time.

I can't tell from your short post, but please do not perceive the lounge snacks to equate to a meal or alternate dining plan. It is not, unless you are three years old.

I respectfully disagree with MissionMouse. JMO tho. . .

Which is why we cancelled our ADR"s those 2 evenings we partook of the "appetizers". We were to full to keep them. We did go up to lounge later after a swim for some dessert as well as the earlier appetizer fare.

Guess it depends on eating habits. And for us, the relentless heat played a part in our appetites as well.

Does anyone have those menus to post. I can't seem to find it on here. Also I'd love to hear/see menus from other CL lounges at different resorts. Not to hijack the thread, may just post a new thread to look for those!

The lounge was never really crowded the week we were there. At times, more folks than others but never every table taken.

Enjoy your trip tho and let us know how it works out for your family!

I agree with Kileybeth. In all of our concierge stays we have, at least once, made a light supper of some appetizers. I say this because we are light eaters and if we have a big sit down lunch in the parks we don't want another sit down dinner. We are so happy to enjoy a few treats in the lounge (AKL...beef skewers...YUM!) and a glass of wine and then perhaps later a nice dessert. For us it is a meal replacement, and I don't mean we take a dinner plate of food and chow down. I just can't eat two restuarant meals a day.

CR resort fan! Thank you so much for that menu! My mouth is watering just remembering. yum. do you have one for the CR by any chance?

looking forward, shew, I was feeling a bit uncomfortable having people thinking I was just trying to save a dime or was being greedy! I mean the dime was already spent so to speak and the issue was not gorging on food rather, we had so much food the whole trip we just didn't need anything more kwim?

just a look at that posted menu tells you it is a lot of food they put out each evening!

They never gave one like that for the Atrium Club, however here are some of the itmes I remember for some of the days.

Tuesday: Beef Wellington Puff Pastries, Mini Kishes and Assorted Cheese Tray.

Wednesday: Mini Pizza's, forget the 2nd hot item and Assorted Cheese Tray.

Thursday: Chicken Wings, Ribs and Assorted Cheese Tray.

Sunday: Steamed Shrimp, Blue Berry Puff Pastries and Assorted Cheese Tray.

I have stayed there and we liked it, it is nice because you can get soda's at all hours. The CM's desk's are on the first floor and food is on the 2nd, I didn't care for that I like it all together. I thought the food offerings looked great and there was a variety. I disagree, however, with another poster about them handling food allergies well. They did not handle mine well. The woman Chef was wonderful, I did not have luck with another. I went to the CM's hoping they could help me, and they told me to talk to the Chef ( I had already done this, and was made to feel bad). I really never ended up with anything I could eat, by the time I found the right Chef, I was leaving. So, on that part I wasn't thrilled. But, if you don't have any problems it would be a great place to stay.
