We are staying at the Poly Concierge in July. I just had a few unanswered questions I was hoping you could help with.......
1. Update - Is there/not bottled water now available in the lounge?
2. Is there a fridge in the concierge rooms?
3. Are there sand toys available on the lagoon for the children to play with?
4. Has anyone's children done activities (not in Neverland Club but just at the resort itself) with the activity staff- if so what activities did they do, and how well enjoyed were they?
How often do they have activities for the kids? Are the activity staff the same staff as those in the Neverland Club?
Thanks for the replies!

The distributor that supplies the resorts concierge lounges does not supply the plastic bottles of water any longer. This is not a decision by the Polynesian and in fact for many years the Polynesian was one of the few concierge lounges that ever had them out for the guests.

There are refrigerators in every concierge room.

You can get toys for the pool and beach at the gift shop.

I have watched the kids out at the pool, beach and lobby doing activities during the day and all seem to be enjoying them very much. None ever seemed bored. Just about every day there is something going on and on certain days there are special events. Some of the things but not all are:

Polynesian Storytelling in the Great Ceremonial House daily at 8:30 p.m.
Arts and Crafts
Learning how to make a Kukui nut necklace and the story behind it
Decorating with Hawaiian stamps
Learn Lau printing
Learn how to Lauhala weave
Make your own candy lei
Treasure Hunt
Pool Games (water basketball and polo)
Visor decorating
Arcade Challange
Disney movie in the Neverland Club
Beach games
Free arcade challenge
Basket ball in the pool

Thanks Steve for your very informative reply - the kids activities sound just great!!! As for the water, Are the glass bottles of water that are offered tap water, or spring water? Can you take these back to your room and put them in your own plastic bottles for park use? I'd still love to hear about the experiences of children who have done activities at the Poly. Does anyone know at what times are these are offered?

what would we ever do without tikiman and all his great info about the beautiful and fantastic poly resort???????????

cdnliving,

Yes you can take the bottles of water I just would not ask for a bunch. They are not tap water.

The kids activities are in the middle of the day and different things on different days. I have the times at home but you will also get them when you check in.

Aloha

On our way back from parks we stopped and did stenciling at the activities table with a cm. We ended up staying for over half an hour. The girls really enjoyed it. Also, they had hula lessons in the lobby on Saturday mornings. They actually brought hula skirts for the girls to put on. They had a blast. They also were able to make leis in the lobby. My girls were 6 and 4 at the time. These are some of the reasons the Polynesian is my favorite resort. I hope this helped.

There are also activities during the day at the Neverland club which are free of charge until 4 pm when they begin the baby sitting services. My children made masks and leis (spelling?). They wanted to go there every day.

We just got back from a stay at the Poly and my older kids enjoyed the afternoon pool activites (basketball, etc) and the free arcade periods. CMs supervised these activities and despite age differences in the groups, everyone got to play and have fun. My daughter made leis in the front lobby one afternoon (needless to say my boys were not too keen on this activity!). We would get 2-3 bottles of water a day from the lounge as my kids do not drink soda (there is lemonade available from a dispenser, not in cans). Usually got one in the a.m. to fill the water bottles for the park, one on returning 'cause it was SOOO hot, then one in the evening. One bottle will fit in the refrigerator in the room. They also have cartons of milk and juice boxes (we would get a juice box for my youngest's bottle when we headed out each day). You will love the concierge lounge......great for the kids and so convenient!

Thanks everyone for the great replies, sounds like the kids would enjoy spending a few days/afternoons just around the hotel. Catnick, you mentioned afternoon pool activities - what were some of them beside basketball, and what ages were they geared towards? Also, the free arcade time - is that free meaning no charge or free time your kids had to head to the arcade? Thanks....

How big is the bottled water bottle? Also can someone please tell me the brand? And is it spring or sparkling water? My family will be disappointed that there are no plastic bottles of water (as was the case in 2001 and 2002), it was so convient to take to the parks.

Glad to hear they still have the small juice boxes and milk containers. What kind of juice do they have now? It used to be apple juice.

Is there still canned soda? And is any of the diet caffiene free?

Thanks for your help.

My sister and I are treating my parents (of course we are staying there also) for 2 nights before the whole family goes on a Carnival cruise for their 50th anniversary out of Tampa. Not Disney because the other factions of the family balked about there not being a casino on the Disney ships!:(
So us and Mom had to get in our WDW fix beforehand. We have also booked an Illuminations cruise with decorations and a cake. They know about the cruise but not the extras.

We just upgraded from Poly Gardenviw to Poly Gardenview Concierge. It was an extra 49.00 a night w/tax. So now we are paying 211.00 per night w/ tax included.
I think this is a great deal.

Any opinions? Is the Concierge worth the extra $$$?

We are still going to call frequesntly to see if Lagoon view Concierge bacomes available.

That is a great deal. I think it's worth the money if you can swing it. Next time I go I would like to try the LV, CL. That would be the ultimate. Have a great trip. :)

LAWalz23:
The bottled water brand is Vittel; it is mineral water and comes in a 1 liter glass bottle. There are open bottles in the lounge throughout the day plus you can ask for one to take back to the room.

The only box juice available last week was Minute maid apple juice. There were cans of coke, diet coke with caffeine and sprite on ice all day as well. They had diet coke without caffeine behind the counter, as well as Heinekin and Miller lite beer (you had to ask for it). We missed the smaller bottles of water but would fill our water bottles with the bottled water before we left for the parks and that worked pretty well.

We loved the convenience of the concierge lounge, especially for breakfast and snacks/drinks throughout the day. You definitely got a great rate and I think you will love every minute. In my book, concierge level was worth every penny to us.....

Hope both of you have a wonderful time!

Hi The Robbs,

Wow ... where did you get that rate from???? I've never seen Polynesian concierge that low ... in fact, it's hard to get ANY room at the Polynesian for that rate in July. Even the 5+2 deal isn't that good ... nor the disney visa rate.

Is there a special code for the $211 Garden Concierge rate??? Please tell!!!!

Lorie

We are staying at the Poly GV CL in a couple of weeks. We are paying $362 incl. tax- a night. It is the Fla. resident rate but I'm curious about your $211 rate.

Please tell us how you got such a great rate for Concierge!!

Thanks! :Pinkbounc

Hooked and Lori,

I should have mentioned that in the original statement. It is a CastMember rate. My wife and I both work for Disney in California.

$211 for GV Concierge??? Wow I want to work for Disney!!

The water bottles are glass? And are 1 litter and we can take them? I think we might stop and get a case of water on the way. I wonder if there is a BJs or Costco near Disney?

Thanks for the answers, Catnik. My dad will be happy to know about the beer and niece and nephew love apple juice.
