I was wondering if you had a chance to go Christmas time, and you could only stay at one of these two resort, and only in those rooms. Which one would you pick and why?

We just returned from the Poly conceirge and have stayed before at the WL conceirge and my belief now is neither is worth the extra money. People have ruined the conceirge atmosphere and selections and for the money a room with a water view and getting your snacks elsewhere is cheaper and better. Concierge now puts out very little in offerings, is gone fast and not replaced. Drinks you must ask for and PBJ's and lemonade for noontime isn't worth 150.00 bucks more per day. The staff has their problems too, most are cordial and informative but some are down right nasty and are bothered if you have a question or problem. Mousekeeping is the same in conceirge as in all the longhouses so that doesn't justify the extra money and all the rooms are the same size. Make your own choice and mind up but it isn't as it was 5 , 7 years ago or even last year.

I would pick WL!

Because:

1) WL is GORGEOUS at Christmastime.
2) WL just re-did their conceirge floor.
3) I'm not into tropical themes.

I pick Wilderness Lodge because I like the hotel better. It has that grand, majestic kinda feeling.

I know everybody on the internet loves the Poly, but to me it seems a little old and run-down, and a little bland -- in a Polynesian kind of way. But it has the monorail!

If you'd like to hear some more about how poor Disney concierge service is, let me know. I'll be happy to chime in.

I would go poly concierge. I figure the more crowded the parks, the more important it is to be on the monorail.

We have done the Poly twice (concierge) and the Contemporary once and the Beach Club.
We are trying concierge at WL this Thanksgiving.

I agree with Pepe of Ohio that the concierge lounge at the Poly has really turned into a grubfest overcrowded with ill-mannered guests.
Unsupervised children playing with and wasting food, rude people slopping up the tables and lounge in general. When they do put out the new offerings it really is a bum rush. It certainly proves that money doesn't equal class.

Obviously the staff is not excited to replace food offerings once it has been demolished, It really doesn't seem that special anymore.

I think it is related to the fact that Disney has been working to cut costs by offering less, fewer staff, no water bottles to take to the parks etc...and the fact that more folks believe that the Poly lounge is their personal lunchbox and babysitter club.

This is just my opinion however and I'm certain some may be offended, but if you find youself taking offense is it because you might be among the described guests??? Think about it.

I have found the Contemporary and Beach club to be much nicer and certainly more civilized and hoping the Wilderness Lodge will be more of the same.

Ak! Reading things like this have me sooooooo petrified! I originally tried to get the WL concierge lounge for my December trip, but it was booked so we went with Polynesian b/c we decided that if it wasn't going to be WL, we wanted to be at a monorail resort and the Epcot resorts do not appeal to my partner in crime and we couldn't afford GF or CR...

Please tell us there are people out there who are not grubby and ill-mannered in the concierge lounges! Maybe if I go with low-expectations, I'll be pleasently surprised?

I'm sorry, I'm thread hi-jacking...
