I was trying to book a Poly concierge level and was told by central reservations that the concierge level rooms only sleep 4. Can anyone confirm this or should I call back and talk to someone else.

Absolutely - that CM was Wrong!!!

You can sleep five comfortably at the Poly Concierge building. The rooms are spacious, and set up quite nicely for five. There are two queen sized beds, and a twin sized day bed.

Apparently they are making some changes to the Tonga building right now. My trip is for 4th of July week and we're booked in a regular garden view room but we want concierge so I've been calling back several times a day to check on availability. Within the last 2 days some of the CMs started telling me about a "room on the Tonga building, its not a suite, it has 2 queen beds, and has a marina view", but then they read on and it says "this room will become a king bed room after May 10th and become the Honeymoon room", so therefore will only sleep 2 people.

Maybe that's what they were reading? Because right now they ARE "selling" this room or rooms as sleeping 4 people, then being changed to only sleeping 2 people after May something.

Anyway, it's been a real education speaking with so many different CMs. And as has been said on this board before, All CMs are NOT created equal. :earboy2: Some really know what they're doing or else they will read what's on the computer and figure it out, whereas other CMs are clueless and do a terrible job of trying to figure things out with the customer (me) on the phone.

Edited to add info for clarification:

The above mentioned room in the Tonga building does include concierge and will ONLY sleep 4, according to the CMs I spoke to, because there is no day bed in the room(s). In all of the other normal rooms, there is a day bed and they do sleep 5 people.

I keep calling back to check on availability of concierge and this is the only "room" showing up on their screens for the week I am going. :confused3

Seaspray,

You are correct there is a room in Tonga that is listed as Suite Concierge on any Polynesian rate form you might see and it is a single room in Tonga that is usually used as an add-on room to the King Kamehameha room but is sometimes sold by itself. It is the only standard size room on property that does not have a day bed and this is partly because it is the smallest room on property. It is located at the front (marina side) of Tonga but is not open at this point due to the renovations going on at Tonga. All rooms in every building except Tonga sleep 5 and a 6th can be in the room in a crib if they are under 3.

The CMs at Central Reservations seem to have trouble understanding the Polynesian.

Aloha

Thanks Steve! :) They listed this room as costing $580 a night which is more than the regular lagoon view concierge for the time period we're going. I guess because it's in the Tonga building?! At any rate, with 2 big teen boys we definitely are not interested in a room without a daybed. Also, they said it'll have a king bed ONLY in it by the time of our trip in July. Something about turning it into a Honeymoon room.

Still calling and hoping and waiting for a Hawaii concierge room to open up.... :scratchin
